Our own stupidity. We are stuck on this puny little planet with no means for escape. If earth were for example struck by an asteriod then the human population on earth would decrease, it may even bring about the destruction of the race. If we were for example to colonize another planet or the moon or something then our chances of survival as a race would increase. I think the earth will be destroyed by the pollution that we are dumping into the atmosphere, Or we will do something so incredibly stupid that we will destroy the earth.

we gotta get off this planet within the next 200 years. Otherwise overpopulation will be the downfall of the civilization.

According to current estimates, even if population growth slows down considerably, we are looking at a possible population of around 20 billion in the year 2200. For most people this is unimaginable...in my mind its quite possible...but will result in the complete destruction of the Earth's ecosystems.

If you watch Star Wars episode 1 and see how the planet Coruscant looks...or watch the Fifth Element and see how the cities look, you will have an idea of what our planet will look like. A series of interconnected, sprawling cities with no open spaces...human beings on every square foot of this planet.

Thats really where things will go if we don't find a way to leave.
