Why is it that anytime something relating to GPA or tests scores comes up, people who feel inferior have to bring unrelated things into the discussion? If the OP wanted to know what your salary is, he'd have asked that. He didn't ask about salary.

And like someone else said, there really isn't any correlation between GPA and salary unless you bank that GPA at a top 5 school.

I've seen < 3.0's start at salaries that I would only pay to people with 5+ years of experience, and I've seen 4.0's totally miss the boat.

People put too much stock in the tangibles. Getting a good job with good pay is 50% you and 50% luck... and the of the 50% that's you, 50% of that is networking.

There is none.
There is a weak correlation but there is also a correlation between your major and your GPA which must also be taken into account . There is also a correlation between your GPA and the school you attend.

in my experience theres actually an inverse correlation... all the kids this december graduation class with TERRIBLE grades all landed cushy jobs.. while most of the other kids are still hunting for jobs

4.0 undergrad (chemistry and math) 4.0 grad school (physical chemistry). Actually, my undergrad GPA rounded to 4.0, I had a couple of B's. Grades are BS IMHO, pretty meaningless.

As far as salary, I have this saying. The race doesn't go to the swiftest, it goes to who plays the game the best.

By the time I'd actually graduated, I think it was ~3.5 overall, 4.0 major (three cheers for psychology and english).

I'd imagine that work ethic more than grades correlates with salary. Grades are technically supposed to tap into the construct that is "work ethic," but as we all know, that's not always the case. Sorta like SAT scores and college performance.

GPA is only something to get your foot in the door.

If you don't use it to get into a competitive employer, or you don't perform well in the real world, you're pay won't be any larger.
