I voted no brand preference.

My last MB purchases:

Gigabyte
Gigabyte
MSI
Asrock
MSI
Asrock

The above includes rigs for friends and family along with mine.

Notice no Asus....Had a bad rma experience with them a couple of years ago which left a bad taste in my mouth so they're a no go for me now.

I don't shop the lower end brands for the most part.

No brand preference for me. Was a huge Abit fan back in the day. Alas, they are no more.

Although i voted for no brand preference i have owned Asrock, Gigabyte, ECS, Foxconn, MSI and Asus. Although thinking about it the motherboard which i owned the longest was the Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 because i owned a great AGP Nvidia video card which i didn't want to ditch for PCI Express x16 just yet.

I still own one. It is by FAR my favorite board of all time. I'm using it with a classic oddball vid card, the Nv 7950gx2. The Abit BH-6 probably comes in second to it.

As far as manufacturers, I've bought so many over the years and all have had some great boards and some rotten apples too. I was one of those weirdos that kinda dug the fruit loops Gigabyte boards from back in the day. I have always gotten good Asus boards as well, hell even the few ECS boards I bought are still working.

I still own a functional PC Chips s370 AT (yea, not ATX) board !!!

I have ASRock now.. No issues. Had Gigabyte before.. No issues. So it's a toss up between those two.

No brand preference - whatever has the features/setup I want at the cheapest price. I had MSI LGA 1156 P55 and now Asrock LGA 1150 Z87

I have used 3 Gigabyte boards and they have all been solid even considering they are fairly low on the food chain as far as features, so I consider Gigabyte my go-to brand. I did a build with an ASRock H81 board and it worked well, too.

I've always ended up with MSI for long term use, best features/price balance at the time. Had a decent EVGA for a while as it was going at 10% retail price on Ebay.

Tried Asrock twice but had PCIe graphics stuttering/bandwidth issues with them across different platforms/generations

Always wanted to try Asus, but MSI seem to be getting closer to their quality these days.

I've been put off Gigabyte in recent generations, but this is usually down to bios issues more than anything.

ASUS. I've also owned two Gigabyte boards over the years and while initially very happy with them both ended up failing after several years. The two ASUS have been perfect - both a 790 FX and 890 GX still in regular use.

As far as the rest - had an nForce 2 from Shuttle (full sized ATX - they used to make them) and it was reliable until I dumped the old system. Had two good MSI boards - one nForce 2, the other nForce3 250. Had two cheap Biostars and they were pretty bad - reflected their price tag. Currently have an ECS AMD 970 board with an FX-6300 and its been fine given the budget price I paid ($49.99 less a $30 MIR I still haven't and probably never will received).

I have always had good luck with Asus and will always consider one first. Probably one of the few computer components that I'm 100% loyal. Simple stuff like the quick connect for the case controls, familiar BIOS and support website. I have purchased 3 Gigabyte boards as well and don't see anything wrong with them. I just don't like the entire package as much.

EVGA (Nvidia ony) for video cars probably comes second as far as brand loyalty.

I used to purchase Abit and my last one was for my P4. Unfortunately it failed and I went Asus at that point.

Asus has been the only brand historically that either never sent me a DOA or lasted longer than 1 year. It's always about models and not brands but MOBO's are pretty complex, sensitive pieces of equipment so I tend to stick with them so long as they have a model that supports the features I want. For example I purchased Gigabytes ultra durable brand boards and the first one lasted a year, the second one which was a different model lasted only 6 months. I know Gigabyte is a great brand and all but to hell with luck which is something I don't have with MOBO's.

It's one of the few products out there that I do consider brand as of any real importance. Refrigerators are another as well as A/C window units, chainsaws, tools, work boots and a few other things.

I picked Gigabyte. I love their dual BIOS chips and ultra durability. Between my Bro and I we have owned four Gigabyte boards over the years and never had a problem. My Bro bought a Asus once and it was damn picky on RAM.

Its all about specific models so I tend to choose based on reviews and I don't care who made it.

Yep, all of my builds used to be Abit (Premium) and Shuttle (Budget Build).

Don't think I ever got a board that I wasn't thrilled with from either.

Now I just stick to Asus or MSI.

When I buy one it is either Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Evga or Asrock, Asrock and Evga being my least preferred. It all depends on budget really and what you are getting for your money but out of the lot Asrock is my least favorite.

In the past I've used asus, dfi, asrock, msi oh and even an albatron. I've generally be happiest with asrock/msi but generally speaking each generation has a set of dogs that I try to avoid. I hear asrock extreme for z77 were a bit of a dog; but the 68 and 87 were pretty darn good. MSI has some nice options but the p68 board I purchased was flawed (video card covered a 'critical' connector; they quickly revised the board by moving the connector (which doesn't help me but at least show they are aware to cusotmer feedback). My next upgrade will likely be asrock extreme6 z87 (they dropped pci cards in the z97 version) but for this system I need 10 sata ports which the extreme6 has. Anyways I find that each generation has dogs and good boards. I generally prefer the smaller companies because they tend to give better support (though I almost never need support - btw g.skill is great but sadly they do not make motherboards).

In terms of DOA and failure; I've had a dfi board die after 6 years and the albatron board died after 7 years (the albatron was a thunderbird and the dfi was opt sandy something or other). The two boards I have now are asrock z68 and msi p68 both 3 years old - the asrock runs 24/7 and has heavy disk load once a month; the msi gets turned on once a day for a few hours - so I think both have seen heavy usage without any issues. For precise dates the z68 was purchased June 2011; the msi was a wee bit earlier (microcenter purchase so i don't have the receit on line).

With regards to DOA boards I had one asrock m-itx b75 board that had a non functioning memory slot. Second one has worked 24/7 since Aug 2013 (not that old).
