I used DP to get the full 165 hz on my alienware, pleb HDMI is stuck at 100hz on it

Also, Freesync Premium and it has configurable LED lighting on game by game basis This is pretty silly but... .I guess I don't mind it either.

Mine is a generic 27" 1440p Dell 165Hz gaming monitor, but it has zero gamer lights which suits me. I think it does 165Hz on both HDMI and DP.

Not that I can detect any difference at all between 120 and 165.

I use a Dell 27" 1440P "work" IPS monitor that does "only" 75hz for my bike simulation rig and I love that thing. It's super pretty. No lights and not even a USB hub! I really prefer Dell monitors and use a P3223QE for my primary work monitor. 60hz sad trombone there too

FWIW I too can't sense that high of frame rates and use Chill to limit to 100FPS, generally.

Although this close to 4K that's not usually the problem...

Be interesting to know how many people are using variable refresh rates as well.

144hz VRR @ 3440*1440 34" here.

144Hz 4K Samsung Odyssey G70A. Kinda pointless at only 28" but hey. I personally don't see anything above 144-165Hz something "must have" that enhances the experience noticeably.

It depends:

  • FPS that dips below occasionally 60 - VRR to keep it running smoothly as possible.
  • More than enough for consistent FPS - I'll use vsync, to keep FPS fixed at a moderate value. I don't see any point wasting more power, and creating more heat/noise to display more FPS than I can notice. I don't notice anything beyond 120 FPS.
