Poll: What resolution do you use in 3D games? (with poll)

Hawk: I don't really overclock the Radeon much(193/193) but the processor I use is a 'Bird1000@1296, which helps me squeeze all I can out of the video card. I hope to be driving my system with a 1.5GHz birdie sometime soon. . .

1152x864x16. Surprisingly my G400 can handle it very well. It never liked 1027x768x32 much, so never bothered to go higher at 16bit.

I play at 1024 x 768 and 16bit with my GF2 MX - however, recently I've been playing Project IGI which requires me to go down to 800 x 600 otherwise it's a bit sluggish for me!

I run TeamFortressClassic @ 1024 x 768 32bit (or 16 i don't know) and get in the nineties with a 32MB Geforce2 GTS not OC'd on a P3 750 not OC'd. Eventuall I'll OC and we'll really see

I usually play most games @1024X768. All resolutions above that, the words are realliy hard to see on my 17" monitor. Some games that are very graphic intensive, I move down to 800X600.

The only game I play is counterstrike and I play on 1024x768 and i think the game is only 16 bit, but i'm not sure. If someone could correct me that'd be great. I play with a voodoo3 3000 and believe it or not, in an internet game when there are only about 2 or three people in the screen(but 20 people in the game), i get around 100 fps! and it'll drop only to about 65 fps. It averages like 75 fps. Also, I tried playing at higher resolutions, but the crosshairs become offset and the position of money and ammo and guns are offset too. Can someone solve this problem for me?

I'd like to play pretty much everything at 1024X768 at 32 bit on my GF2 MX...i would play at a higher resolution if i had a 19"+ monitor or had a GF2 GTS (or better).

ChOwDoWn - My friend has a Voodoo3 also and he downloaded this program from Wicked3D...dunno if that will help your situatino or not tho....

2 weeks ago I played (mostly UT) at 640x480x16 with a Rage 128 16M.

Now I have a Radeon 32M DDR &quot;LE&quot;, OC'd to 176MHz, and I'm playing at 1024x768x32.

Chalk up another vote for 1024x768 @16bit. I have to play at 16bit because that's all my old V3 will do, but even when I've looked at 32bit side-by-side at LAN parties I still have a hard time seeing a tremendous difference in most cases. The card can run just about anything I can throw at it with smooth frames at that res (Celeron 600@900 / 128MB). I've gotten more mileage out of that little card than I'd ever dreamed of and don't see a real need to upgrade yet.

Perhaps an interesting question to ask in conjunction with this is what size monitor do you use? I know on my spare rig that I have on my home LAN (which I use for games whenever my brother comes over) all I've got is a couple of spare 14&quot; monitors and a Voodoo2 for 3D. But the Voodoo2 can still play most games @800x600 just fine and on a 14&quot; monitor it looks similar to 1024x768 on my 17&quot; monitor. I've used 1280x1024 on 17&quot; monitors in games before, but really can't notice much of a difference from 1024x768. I think as far as perception goes there's a point of diminishing returns for different size monitors after a certain resolution. Anybody else think the same?

Either 1024x768x32 or 1280x0124x32 on my Radeon depending on the game...some menu's are really small in 1280x1024.

I get about 75 fps in UT @ 1280x1024x32...but I'm still using the 7041 drivers.

I also messing around with a V5 right now...I play at 800x600x16 with 2x FSAA or 1024x768x16 w/o FSAA on the couple games I've messed around with.

I'm still setting up wickedGL drivers on some of the games...


Bu, I gotta say the Radeon is the king in terms of image quality...better than the GF2's and the V5, although RGSS FSAA is definitely nice.

As others have said, it depends on the game. I usually play Q3A, (1024x768x32) or UT (1280x1024x32) more than the other games that I have.

I used to stick with GeForces until I installed a couple of Radeon 64MB retail cards in customer builds. Now I use, and really like the Radeon.
