Me? I am very good at Coldfusion. How about you guys?
Remember, it has to be a web programming language, like JavaScript, ASP, Coldfusion, PHP,etc not a program-based programming language like VIsual Basic or C++

Someone mentioned HTML... I dunno if this really counts.

DHTML (basically javascript with lots of IE extensions... really good stuff for intranets) can actually get pretty darn complicated. Microsoft's DOM is very powerful, and you can really tie yourself up in knots with it. The problem with DHTML though, is that for any sort of database contact, the client on the web actually connects to the database. This raises all sorts of security issues.

For an intranet though, I have written some pages in DHTML using IE that worked quite nicely.

I'm alright with Perl. I'm working on learning PHP3 but doubt I will ever be good at it. I would go for ASP but PHP==Free with alot of free documentation

I would disagree with you BlackWob, PHP is free, but the free docs are a lot less plentifull than the loads of free ASP sites, scripts, and components all over the web, not to mention MSDN, the official (and free) support from MS. I would also say that on average a good ASP host is gonna be cheaper and come with more preloaded options than a good PHP host, and ASP's price tag is only what you pay for an NT or Win2k server (that is if you host it yourself) and Win98 has PWS, if you want to develop on a local machine. I runa few domains, all on NT hosts, pretty cheap, i do local testing in either PWS or my Win2k box.

Turbo Pascal!!!!

I know it's not a web programming language, but it's the only thing I'm good at. I can throw together some nice looking HTML and I plan to learn up on JavaScript. I am also learning C++.

I tried to learn perl, then I gave up. I had no use of it
Then I looked at some basic PHP, which gave me a headache. So I ditched it.
So far, all I know is.. HTML..

Well, I know Basic, C, C++, Fortran 90, and SPARC Assembler, but by far I'm best in . . . Java. Yes I know it's pitiful but that's what I do best.

EDIT: just read: WEB PROGRAMMING. Well, I can do server-side cgi stuff with about all of that . . . I guess (only ever tried it in Fortran and C). But I can do javascript as well (count that as java).

PHP and Perl. I'm planning to learn JSP soon. Languages like ASP and Coldfusion don't attract me at all, maybe because they're less programming languages and more like HTML, i.e. markup languages with extensions.

Elledan, what you think a language is capable of is as much as you know about it. Which appears to be not very much (no offense) .

Lets see how much of a "Markup" language ColdFusion is:

COM Support
User Defined Functions
Extensive internal scripting support
Cache recordsets/queries
Run queries against existing recordsets
Built in graphing engine
Incremental page delivery

The list goes on. PHP is great, but there are other languages out there that are just as good if not better. It's all about how well you write code, that is the only factor in any of the popular languages. Coldfusion's main claim to fame is time to market, which it certainly has over PHP, and ASP by a long shot. Most anything you can create in PHP you can create in ColdFusion in a fraction of the time. The language is as powerful as you make it, as programming is largely an imagination based task.

lol Zuni, I've just got to mention 'ColdFusion' and you're there again

Anyway, when I said 'mark-up language' I was referring to the way you create programs. With ColdFusion you're using tags instead of a C/Java style language. Since I seriously dislike using a tags-based language beyond HTML and X(HT)ML I don't feel like learning to use ColdFusion.

I need those curly brackets

Elledan heheh yep I stand by the product . In about 8 months, CF is going Java so your learning JSP will be a very good idea. MMM compiling apps into java byte code. Yum Yum.
