I'd switch to an alternative, but even if there is an second option they'll likely be the same since the companies realize they stand to make more sharing in the rape of their consumers than they do trying to actually compete against each other.

I wonder if the caps will be raised in a few years when we're all streaming 1080p movies, 1080p TV shows, and 5.1 music online plus we'll buy and download our console games over the internet.

Then we'll all be "abusers."

The average America uses less than 10GB per month and therefore won't care.

I don't think that the "average" American is downloading a lot of HD content from Netflix or Hulu yet. When they do, they'll get hit by these excess bandwidth charges as well and will start complaining to any news organization or governmental body that will listen.

Then (and only then) will companies like Comcast and At&t start raising the download caps and make it sound like they're doing us a HUGE favor by doing so :|

I voted Americans will bend over and take the shaft..as always. Its the American way by now. Corporate greed trumps all in this day and age.

LOL! You think they'll raise caps just cause people complain? Just like they did with speed, they'll have speed + cap increase packages. The ONLY way we'll probably get unlimited back after this is with another provider in the market place. Look at text messages on cell phones. It's been 10+ years and we're still getting raped for a couple of bytes of data that costs them LITERALLY NOTHING. Once they place the hooks in they aren't coming out. Especially behemoths as big as the Telephone and Cable companies.

Except they won't get hit with excessive bandwidth charges because getting hit with excessive bandwidth charges would require them to watch 6 hours worth of content each day in addition to their current internet use and still have room to do other things.

Bandwidth caps only hurt those who are doing things that are illegal or people who are using a home plan to run their business.

(Hint: if you are running a business, maybe you should have a business plan.)

What a narrow minded and sophomoric statement.

(Hint: I'm calling you a short sighted ignoramus.)

That's what I suspect will happen. Phone service has moved from toll calls to unlimited calling but the internet is moving backwards, lol.

how are you guys whining when we had 60gb caps coming up here in canada, 250 is just fine

On top of that our only option is to take it in the ass since every provided has the same caps (seriously, they base their caps on what other providers are doing rather than any technical facts).

Taking action against this is impossible since the whole issue is so muddled with disinformation. The recent CRTC decision actually had no impact on users of large ISPs.

Nonetheless it would be nice if the end result was a regulation requiring unlimited, non-discriminated bandwidth. The providers can sure as hell afford it.

I'm looking to get rid of Uverse now. I'm going to call them and let them know that as well. Probably go back to time warner. They're not much better, but at least no data caps. Vote with your wallet.

No, but they might reconsider those caps when the kid of some US Senator racks up a $250 internet bill because they were downloading game demos all month during summer, and their daddy complains to some friends on the Comcast corporate board about it.

You might think that's a lame example, but at some point these caps will start impacting some influential people who know the right people to complain to.

Take it in the ass and complain that someone else isn't doing something about it.

Netflix is mad lagging right now and it just made me think of something. Last month there was like 2 weeks of Netflix being straight SHIT on my UVerse line. I looked it up, I wasn't the only one at the time either. People all over the country were having issues with Netflix, then out of no where poof good again. Could just be bs, but seems fishier now looking back.
