I wouldn't spend more than $200 dollars for a card unless it has exceptional 2d and 3d quality. I might be willing to spend $300 on the G800 or some other next gen card.

Paid $200.00 for my G400MAX, had it over a year now, so I gotta say that was a pretty good investment...probably would pay 200-250 max for the new G800 if it's as good as they say it will be.

Oh, sorry I'm sure I've seen it called the NV16 numerous times around here, but yes, I did mean the Ultra.

No more than $150 for me. A GF2 MX is an excellent board for the price/perfomance ratio.

I wouldn't pay over $150 right now because I don't make much money at all, but once I become a multi-millionaire I'll pay whatever it's worth. If it where worth $2000 I'd pay it.

same with me - $150 max for a nice MX
computing power grows exponentially, so to me there's not much point in paying twice as much (or more for u freaks out there ) for a bit of performance premium.

spending $150 to upgrade vid card every year will definately get u a better card than spending $300 and use it for two years. besides, who needs 80fps at 1280x1024? when u run out of fps due to more demanding software, its time to run out and get a new card!

if a good enough cpu cost $100 (think duron), a good enough vid card shouldnt cost much more than that. also bear in mind game developers try to design games to run nicely on a slightly above average computer.

so, unless u have an 21" monitor and absolutely needs to run games at 1600x1200 and u are filthy rich,i dont think theres any reason to spend $300 on a vid card...
but if u ARE filthy rich u should donate it to the poor and needy

anyways, there's my 2 cents. same rule applies to cpus for me...

$200 absolutely max. I dont really need extra features but dual head/twin view are worth my consideration.

i'd say 150 max normally. The only reason i have a v5 is that i got a free geforce ddr from a contact and traded it.

Another $150.....at least for a home PC.

For a work CAD / Pro E station then sub $1000 would be a good deal.

Depending on the features, $600. It would need to be able to easily capture in DVD quality with it's 16 mb capture buffer and give me 85 fps at 1600x1200 32bbp at 8x FSAA with a game using 128 mb textures.

For a normal video card, $300.

I've never paid over $69 for a video card (My current one, Diamond Monster Fusion - uses 3dfx banshee chipset, is the current top score leader), and I feel insulted that I'm forced to choose $80 on that poll because it's the lowest. I still get 60fps in UT, I'm happy. One of these days I'll break down and get some nice $150-200 card, but my life needs much more important things then some piece of equipment which will be obsolete in a month when Voodoo or Nvidia decide that they need a few hundred million more dollars to pay for that new island they just bought in the pacific so they come up with a better card.

You people are diseased. $300+ on a video card?! As if your eyeballs could detect 90fps vs. 130fps. The Video card makers should put in a small bug in their drivers that displays 100fps on any game that runs above 30fps...just to satisfy your hunger. If you dont' own a couple of lexuses, or work professionally, there is no need to get $300+ cards, when u could upgrade slightly every year or so.....save a lot more money and sustain optimal performance.
