I like cartoons (simpsons, family guy, undergrads, dilbert) although don't particularly love anime.

If you actually watch some good anime you would see that a lot of it(not all, but a lot) has some very deep plotlines and interesting characters. Not to mention the artwork, which is much better than that of most "cartoons". Lots of anime is written and produced for more mature audiences i.e. not kids. Also IMO a lot of anime is much better/more entertaining than say movies in the theaters.
