Right now I have an Athlon XP 1600+ w/ 512MB DDR and it runs great.
I am thinking about waiting till Q1 2003 for a Dual Clawhammer system.
If only Apple OSX was ported to x86-64, I would be in heaven.

I think it's time to give AMD a shot next time around. Having said that, theoretically, I want to triple the performance of the 733eb slot 1 I've got now. Therefore, I will upgrade to either a Thoroughbred or Hammer, when one of the two hits 2.2Ghz actual speed.

I love all the people upgrading from their athlon XP to hammer. I've got a duron 600 and it surfs the web and uses AIM just fine. I was even thinking about selling my current comp and going back to a Pentium III 500mhz. Is there a such thing as downgrading the CPU. Any I think I would upgrade to intel just because I don't like via chipsets. When I buy an ATA100 hard drive I want it to run in Ulta DMA mode not PIO. Stupid Via.

Some of us do more than surf the web and use AIM.
For gamers, every little bit helps.

Here's my past, present, and future systems.

1. Intel 386 33Mhz
2. AMD K6-2 380Mhz
3. AMD Athlon XP 1470Mhz
4. Whatever is at least twice as fast as my XP
