POLL: Where will Ron Artest be traded to?

Well, recent events have pretty much cemented the fact that Artest will not be playing in a Pacers uniform for an extended period of time. The big question is now, where will he end up?

Personally some kind of a trade for Wally Sczerbiak would make me ecstatic. With KG, Cassell, Hassell, Artest, and Olowokandi they become an extremely srong defensive team and that is not even counting who they would get in a trade for Sprewell.

What does everyone else think? I will ad poll choices when someone makes the suggestion.

But what if they resign Sprewell and trade for Artest? Then they'd have two basketcases and a crybaby (Cassell). As everyone learned last year with the Lakers, stacking a team with talented egomaniacs does not equal a championship.

How's that food drive going for Sprewell considering he's having a hard time feeding his family on his paltry salary?

To the Knicks? Eh? Not sure I'd want that headcase, but how would the Knicks get him?

Probably trade one of the few good, young, hardworking players they have (like Sweetney), just so they can jack up their payroll even more and pay more in luxury taxes. Thomas seems to think the Steinbrenner mentality will work with the Knicks.

I'd take Artest for Tim Thomas without blinking, but Mike Sweetney? Heck no.

Well I think signing Sprewell and trading for Artest wouldnt both happen. I dont think SPrewell is coming back next year at all, he burned his bridge. Artest is a better defender than Sprewell and of course much younger. Sure hes crazy but I think KG would put him in check. Then trade Sprewell and whatever else is necessary (Hudson?) to get a young talented PG to replace Cassell when he dies of old age.

I agree. Sweetney is the only player on the Knicks I would say is not available. I was just saying that Thomas' mentality seems to be to pick up big name/contract players thinking they will mesh into a championship unit. Who knows, maybe he's doing this just to screw with Lenny Wilkins -- give him a bad team and a reason to fire him. Thomas claims he won't become the coach as long as he's the GM. Right. He might just turn the coaching over to his longtime friend who just became an assistant (Suhr?), but Thomas would actually be "calling the shots".

i don't think he'll be traded.

however, as a pistons fan, i wouldn't mind if he left the Pacers.

If he is traded the trade that makes the most sense is to Sac for Peja. This was talked about during the offseason, Peja wants out, Pacers need scoring, salaries are very close so no other players would have to be included to make this trade work.

Wally for Artest would be a dumb trade for Indy. When Artest is playing and not being a T-foul happy idiot, he is five times the player Wally is. Now Peja for Artest, that would be a good trade.

But then again, he's prolly not gonna be traded.

Actually somebody with some common sense.
Both makes very little money relative to their star status.
And both wants out of their team(Maybe Peja more than Artest).

Some of you guys need to lay down the pipe for bringing up players like Sprewell and Wally

Why would the Knicks take him anyways? If they wanted him in the first place, they would've drafted him, since he's made it clear he wants to play for them. Instead they went for some guy that never even signed with the Knicks.

from a pacers organization standpoint....why get peja? he's a great shooter, but that's it. at least artest shuts down the other team's top scorer AND drops 20 pts.

on another note, where do you guys think jkidd will end up? as a nets fan, it hurts to watch nj this year compared to the last 2 yrs.

the kings need to trade peja for him, but they're too dumb. a t-wolves deal might make sense. Wherever he goes, it has to be someplace where they don't have to depend on him for wins. When the game is on the line, you don't want to have to rely on the crazy guy.

The Knicks won't get him. They already passed him by in the draft. They got John Wallace instead, and where is he ???

You must be kidding right ?? Just a great shooter ??
Without Webber for most of the season last year, Paja carried that team and would have won the division if not for the late collapse.
Peja is one of the best(if not the best) bargain the the NBA. He only makes like $7 million a yr.
Artest is right up there in the bargain department but its not like hes trouble free. He a technical foul waiting to happen every game.

Both wants to get out so this makes more sense than any of the other scenario you guys brought up.
