Knowing it is a poll, I shall nevertheless state SAMSUNG. I belive the 16: 48X is great with just that one xception. It isn't RPC-1 yet... I sure hope someone comes up w a solution soon.
LoL, i'm guessing half this forum has the slot-load Pioneer DVD drive cause it looks cool.. yep that's what I have.. the Pioneer DVD-106S and I love it.. it's a very good drive, its quiet, and it reads everything well, no jitter at all when playing DVD's.. It's awesome!
<< So why is the Pioneer Slot loader so great?
Mabye I'll pick me up one of those... >>
It's different b/c it's slot, AND it works well. Sometimes stuff that's different doesn't work well, or stuff that works well looks like everything else. This differentiates you from every1, and it's a solid performer.

How's the speed of the Pioneer 106s? And how is it for ripping music?
Thanks.
I use a PS2, but am going to get a Liteon 16x after other upgrades.
Btw I have heard of problems with viewing dvd's on PS2 like that it stops in the middle of certain movies. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this, I haven't yet.
Mine is an old Pioneer 103S and it has been really good to me. It does not read sub-channel data, though, so I will be getting a Lite-On 16X soon for that purpose.

Pioneer slot loader, and I love it. Bought a second one for my sister, and she has no complaints, too.
Its a bit on the noisy side, and the error correction isn't the very best out there, but its reliable and fast.
I have a Pioneer DVD 303S(region free) 6x scsi slot loading drive in my main system, an 8x Compaq branded dvd drive in my Compaq Armada laptop and I also use my Playstation 2 to watch movies.
