As far as the 80s are concerned, there was little to no innovative music during that period. The reflection around here as "great music" is skewed by the demographics. The 80s saw the death of Disco, and the emergence of spandex hair bands, supplanted by the "death" of the great bands from the 70s, Zep, Aerosmith, Who, etc. Toward the end of the 80s the grunge scene rose, but that music was basically a rearrangement of power trio / minus the blues injected with the disassociation and single minded "me generation" genre attitude that was spawned by the decade of greed. I can't see how any 80s bands could be put up against the Beatles, Stones, Who, Zep, Doors, Elton John, or Motown greats. U2 maybe an outside chance, I'd give them honorable mention

Now of course. I meanwe have Brittney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Jessica, Simpson, Clay Aiken. All the music is so original and has so much depth.

60s, with 80s close behind. 80s might have won, except that "pop" in the 80s was atrocious. It was a good decade for metal though. Almost all of 60s music is excellent though.
