I've narrowed my short list of cases down to two from Chenbro and the Lian-Li V2000.

The Lian-Li V2000B is rather pricey...but it's still in the running. It's front filter is moot, as the entire case is one big invitation for dust to crawl in. I do like the layout of the case though...plus it's a looker!

The other two cases in question are:

Chenbro SR103B

and the

Chenbro SR107B

Each has it's pluses and minuses.

103 has 2 external 3.5" bays; I still use a floppy and card reader; 107 has only one external 3.5" bay.

107 has 2 front panel USB ports; 103 has none.

103 has a front filter, 107 has none...small niggle, but it's there

107 uses 120mm fans; much quieter than the 103's mix & match of 92mm & 80mm fans.

Any of these cases will more than fit my needs; Dual-Opteron motherboard, 3 HDs, 2 or 3 Optical drives.

Please at least vote in the poll; it would be great if you posted your comments as well. Thanks very much.

I'll take what's behind door #5 please... I don't like any of those cases. Besides, how much are the second and third ones going for? What are you doing where you acutally NEED a dual-opteron powered system? With the amount of drives (hard and optical) you're looking to have, all of those cases are overkill.

Is it just me or do 2 of the choices in your poll have nothing to do with the 2 in your post?... Eitherway Lian-Li V2000B all the way.

Your poll shows "Codegen" as the brand name of the two Chenbro cases. That's probably what's confusing folks.

THat said, I'd go with the 107 and get yourself one of those combo 3.5" floppy/card reader drives.

The Lian-Li and Chenbro SR107B look nice. I'd not get the cube, as any case that fits EATX mobos should work, and the Lian-Li and Chenbro SR107B look easy to work with.

That is easily the fugliest case I have ever seen.

I like both of the Chenbro cases, even though the cube might be a bit large. The 107 looks to be a decent price and it promises good cooling - but it will be quite loud.

I voted for Lian-Li V2000B not for looking or if nice. But Lian-Li cases realy do work.
Aluminium alloy is the better i think.

Oh, sorry about the name mixup!!! I've been looking at so many cases lately, I got the names mixed up. My bad.

I'm still leaning towards the 107. I was planning on swapping out the three stock fans for Panaflo 120mm fans...if the stockers prove to be too loud. With the two intake fans being buried in the middle of the case, I'd imagine that would muffle them a bit.

I think the 107 is a lot of case for a decent price.

Still considering the Lian Li V2000 as well.

Thanks for your suggestions!!!!

ps
That Aerocool jetpack case....I wouldn't take it for free. Can Usay "Got Rice?"

It's a server case, those stock ones will be LOUD. But if you have big heatsinks (Thermalright, Zalman, Coolermaster, Aerocool) and keep control of the cables, Panaflos should do the job.

I like the first chenbro b/c I dig the short fat cases. I am modding an old erver that looks a lot like it to fit 2 PCs and most of my networking gear in it. How nice to have just one box for 3 separate entities. There are some pics of the early stages of my mod on my site (in sig).

Well, I got something that wasn't even on my list. Someone on the 2CPU forums turned me on to:

The Yeong Yang YY-W201.

Translated from German review (I like this review though, nice pics!)

I got the "Version B" of the case which has a removable 3.5" drive (holds 5 drives) cage w/a 92mm fan.

The case will hold any motherboard and the cooling should be good to go. Haven't decided if I'm going to get 60mm fans to go under the 120mm fan in the back yet.

The website tests did not use the 60mm fans, but when Intel approved the case after testing dual-Xeon mobos in it, they did use the 60mm fans. Does Panaflo make 60mm fans? /goes to look.

*edit*
Take a look at this pic. PIC Though the 60mm fans have to be taken out to install/remove PCI cards (PITA!) they would cool off the video card VERY WELL. Hmm.

Man that YY case is a monster! I would go for something like the Silverstone Berserker (B-032F). Lots of variants on that case out there (Enermax Shiny Titanium, PCMCIS, Bow Technology, AGPB 800 series et al.) if you don't like the looks of the SST. It is said that the pix don't do it justice - let's hope so. At least it's better looking than the Opus variant with the orange front.
.bh.

Have a  !

Thanks, Zepper. Going to do that  thing right now. It's movie time. I looked at a few of the Silverstone cases...not my cup of tea. It's all "YMMV" and all that, you know? Whatever does it for you.

I like kinda plain looking cases with lots of room inside. They don't come much bigger than the YY 201 ; unless you go with a "cube" case. I shyed away from them due to the high probability of having to buy longer cables. SCSI cables ain't cheap!!!
