9. Mr. & Mrs. SandEagle find the whole situation bazar, but have learned a valuable lesson...
I don't think that word means what you think it does.
9. Mr. & Mrs. SandEagle find the whole situation bazar, but have learned a valuable lesson...
so we were cleaning up some cabinets and found like 15 canned foods that had gone anywhere from 1 to 2 years past their expiration dates. wife asked me to put them in a box and place them out next to the trash in case any one wants them. weird, never heard of that. she said she saw some show and people do it all the time. instead i ended up tossing them in the garbage as i could not in good conscience allow anyone to eat anything i wouldn't eat myself. she was upset that i threw them away. was i right or was i right?
So all you folks saying don't chuck it whatcha gonna do with it? Go down to skid row and heave it out the window? The food pantries around here won't take expired foods.

You didn't read the whole thread did you?
So you had plenty if time to read this one, right?Guess not I was busy in another thread defending Bieber's honor. :awe:
Gather round...
1. Cans are set out as wife instructed
2. Enterprising person (homeless or not), finds cans clearly set out to be found and taken.
3. Enterprising person collects cans, then claims they made him/her deathly ill.
4. Enterprising person finds an attorney hungry to make a name for themselves and a few bucks.
5. Attorney files suit against Mr. & Mrs. SandEagle on behalf of client.
6. The Sandeagles claim that those cans did not belong to them. Lawyer realizes case is stupid and drops it.
However, in the real world, no one would ever take the case.
How are you going to prove that the cans were theirs? How are you going to prove that the guy didn't fish the cans out of the trash? How are you going to prove that the food in the cans made the guy sick? How are you going to prove that the guy didn't contaminate the food while cooking it? You can't. The experts you'd have to hire to even think about this case would make it a financial disaster for the lawyer and the insurance companies know it, which is why they won't settle. That's why no lawyer would ever sue.
You don't read the news much do you? You are confusing lawyers and the real world. They can, have and, will sue for anything you can think of.
Trash is Trash and meant to be discarded.
I've got a law degree and practiced for over a decade.
And your legal qualifications are?
The truth hit too close to home? Maybe you could expound on the value of cases like the mickey d 's hot coffee litigation.
Haha, funny stuff. But I did vote for you SandEagle, I'm a stickler for the dates on food packaging. Milk can go a week past as long as it smells like milk, but otherwise it's gone.Content of your post is irrelevant. The wife is right.
Dude, man up and just admit you were wrong. You're just proving your ignorance once again and it's embarrassing.
The McD's case was the result of people reading the headlines or a short blurb and not understanding what really happened in the case or what the damages were for:

Again, NO one will sue over someone eating discarded cans left on the curb. I'd have better chances suing SE for trolling ATOT than for leaving his expired cans on the street. At least in that case I'd have plenty of witnesses.
Thank you for proving my point. Lawyers will sue for anything if the litigants pockets are deep enough because common sense, morality and, the intent of the law are merely obstacles to overcome on the way to personal wealth. You may be different. I believe there are some lawyers with integrity but you've done nothing to show you're one.
I didn't read the OP, but I voted wife.

You don't seem to be able to make a coherent argument and you keep moving the goal posts, so I'll stop now.
For everyone else, there's no way you'd get sued for leaving expired cans out on the street. If you could, you'd bet that there'd be dozens of dumpster diving cases already brought against restaurants and supermarkets. The legal system doesn't work that way.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled previously funny thread. Sorry SandEagle.
