Heh, my sister inherited by 440BX board - still with the very same CPU (one of the very first P3 450's) - works like a dream too, and since all she does is using it as a typewriter I don't have to worry about graphics-cards a lot & all.

Rock-solid board that .

Yep, running my Abit Be6 version 1.0 with a slot 1 PIII 800. I've upgraded everything but the mobo, which I've had for over 2 years. I'm thinking of upgrading, but this is just too stable!!!

Glad to see that I'm not the only one running a 'dinosaur!!'

I've been real happy with the performance of the Abit BH6 that I haven't seen the need to spend the $$$$ for an upgrade....

But then the "Iwanna's" come along sooner that expected ......

Your machine is very similar to mine. I went with a Celeron 800 for my last upgrade. These Celerons have a 100Mhz FSB and they overclock like a mad dog. You should easily be able to get 133+Mhz FSB. Mine will do 143 but this is not stable, I run it at 138. You already have PC133 RAM and going to 133+ will really open it up. Your video card should also handle the over clock, my ATI 128 AIW did. This is the best upgrade you can do for $50.

You could also try a Pee3 1.0GHz 100FSB. I have seen claims that people have gotten this to run at 133Mhz FSB. But I don't think this is as sure a thing as the Celeron. If you go this way you need to get a certain S-code. Do a search, I think this has been discussed here. One drawback, this chip is over $100. Either way you have one more upgrade left in that board. Good luck.

I too am looking a the Northwood for my next major upgrade.

I just upgraded to an AMD 1GHz w/ Epox 8K7A and 256 DDR RAM! It's great!

Anyway, I upgraded from a Celeron 300@450 on an Abit BM6. It's been running for over 2 years and still runs great! I'm using it as a backup system, or for anybody that just wants to join me on my LAN.

Love the BX chipset.

Had 2 capacitors blow on the 700 systems. Soldered in 2 new ones and she's running fine.
