I have recently begun to sell things online and I don't really know how this feedback system should work.

I have sold an item already and have been paid a couple days ago. Now the buyer responded quickly and provided fast payment so I already shipped the item.

Now it won't arrive until Wednesday, so should I leave feedback now because the deal has been completed on my end (seller).

Or should I wait till Wed and wait to make sure there are no complications so I don't get negative feedback.

Can i get some help from you Ebay gurus?

seller probably should....if they've sold the item, and the buyer paid them, then the buyer did their part of the transaction...buyer should leave feedback once they physically get the item

Sorry to say you should let the buyers leave feedback first, always. You might need that feedback leverage at some point, if it means anything to you at all.

Sooner or later you will comes across an a-hole buyer and wish you had not played your feedback card prematurely for that exact reason - leverage.

buyer should leave it as confirmation that the item arrived. if there's a problem, contact the seller before leaving feedback.

Exactly. eBay has enough buyers who will leave negative feedback for stupid reasons without ever contacting you first. Witholding your feedback is the only way to get them to stop and think about what they're doing.

im lazy, so i usually end up waiting until the other party has left feedback. most people ive sold/bought from have sent emails saying they have sent or received the item and have left positive feedback and i should do the same. once i see they did indeed do so, i generally will post feedback

I *always* wait for the buyer to leave feedback first. Usually, I don't have confirmation that the buyer even received the item (DC isn't 100% foolproof) until I see the feedback. If they don't leave anything first, they get none.

Yep. I used to leave feedback first until a buyer did that do me after leaving a positive for him. :| Now I only leave positive feedback after I have received a positive.

I think the seller should because if there's a problem, they can fix it before the buyer gets upset and leaves bad feedback - take it from first hand experiance!

seller, buyer has paid the seller, seller got what he wanted

buyer still has to receive the item, then test it out, make sure its okay

not his fault if seller sells a faulty item

logically, the seller should leave feedback first. once they receive the money, they can confirm that the buyer is reputable (hence the whole point of feedback).

but I've sadly resigned myself to the fact that *no* seller will leave feedback before the buyer does, no matter how many angry e-mails I throw at them. hell, if I get a seller to leave feedback at all, I'm suprised.

How the FVCK do you get that idea? A seller has NO WAY of confirming that a buyer is legit until after they know the buyer is satisfied (by either receiving an e-mail that yes, the item works perfectly, or feedback is left).

The buyer should always leave feedback first. When the buyer leaves positive feedback I consider that the official "end of transaction" and everyone is satisfied so the seller can leave feedback too.

i think the buyer should, with the same reasons as bv3 stated.

usually, if the buyer is dissatisfied, it would look really stupid if you had given him/her positive feedback but s/he gave you positive feedback. if there's something wrong with the order, i'd wait until it's resolved, when this may sometimes entail taking the item back (which i have done on occasion with full refund). fortunately, my dissatisfied buyers were ultimately satisfied and i politely requested that they leave me positive feedback, which they did, and all was well.

in general, i usually wait for feedback in return first; if i don't get anything, i usually return the favor by not giving feedback. if they don't care about it, then you don't have to care about it either.

I think the seller should leave feedback first. I've sold hundred's of things on ebay and only have bought a few things. It sets the positive tone to leave good feedback. And almost always, the buyer leaves feedback shortly.

Buyer.

Just because, the seller's transaction isn't finished until they have verified the buyer has received a working and quality item.

I mean, let's say you sell someone a lamp. Buyer pays. Despite great packaging, UPS decides to play kick ball with your box, then re-package the item, causing it to break. Buyer receives it, and the seller has already left positive feedback. Unless the buyer is a good spirted person, they'll start to make demands or else they'll leave negative feedback. No leverage.
