Largely depends on software support for it and pricing compared to standard DIY PC.

So, chalk me into the "consider" column.

Will most likely get an Intel Powerbook to replace my G4 Powerbook. Probibly wont buy a desktop, I prefer BYO.

I have 3 now: Mac mini, Powerbook, and iBook. I'm planning on buying a PowerMac G5 sometime in the future.

Nope, I always build mine, and that won't be an option with MAC, so I'll never have one. Not to mention that on the rare occasion I've had to use one, I feel lost, and it's too simplistic, and there isn't as much software available.

I will definitely be buying an Intel based Powermac as long as the specs are comparable to top end PCs, which they will be (not for the price of course). Having an extremely fast mac for entertainment and work would be fantastic, and the ability to reboot into windows to game will be a finalizing point for me.

It's too simplistic, but you feel lost?

An Intel-based Mac is just like an IBM-based Mac. Either you like it, or you don't. At least this move will give Apple some decent power for a change.

Much more interesting is the possibility of using OSX on a PC. I, and many, many others, would be willing to give it a try. Unfortunately, it's not likely to happen: Apple is all about controlling the user experience, and that means limited hardware and carefully controlled software. That is impossible when you put an OS up for retail sale.

Sure. A dual core X86 Apple Powerbook running OS X and Vista and using virtualization technology.

You can't assemble a mac. The subject in your sentence is one and the topic's subject is an Intel based Macintosh.

Exactly my point, I would rather assemble my own PC then buy an Apple period...x86 based or not.

I won't buy an Intel-based Mac, no. I would be interested in trying out the OS on my own hardware though, if they would allow it.
