Are you guys with issues using an ad blocker/hosts file? Have you tried alternate browsers?

is there a fix to the constant "not responding" issues with the Chrome browser. I am getting so tired of it. Also having issues with netflix, while trying to navigate among the movie lists.

Are you stock?

I don't like chrome much right now, been using dolphin hd without any issues at all. Same with netflix.

The only complaint I have so far is a little bit of the screen issue some have noted. It's not lifted at all but there's a 1.5" strip along the left edge across from the power button that when I press hard I can hear a bit of tackiness for lack of better word. Like it is contacting the glue and lifting up but it can't be seen and has to be pressed hard to replicate. No light bleed or anything. I'll wait and see if it gets any worse and RMA if needed.

All in all, I love this tab.

i want to order, but i wanna see the screen before i buy. Currently have a nook simple touch that im giving to my sister, and if im ok with reading on this, then i wont buy the new nook with backlight, ill buy this instead.

Ive always been against reading on LCD's, and was hoping the nexus 7 would have an OLED so i can do white text on black reading. How are blacks compared to an OLED screen? And how is reading on it for you?

Anyone know if these are in stock anywhere so i can see them in person? Not many stores around here, but we do have a best buy, and a staples.

Best buy isn't selling them yet. I know Gamestop had them... you might want to check there.

I've had no issues reading on mine, but I also have no issues looking at a computer screen 8 hours a day either. I'll admit it was a bit strange getting used to reading on an LCD screen, since I'm coming from a Kindle, but the pixels are so small that you get the "retina display" sort of effect.

The screen itself isn't great, but it definitely good enough (if you aren't picky.) Blacks are meh, and colors are a little washed out, but everything is clear and still very pretty to look at. I honestly can't complain.

thanks ill check gamestop. I actually love my nook, and id probably get the one with the new backlight if i do decide to get one again, but its hard for me to justify 150 on a reading only device, when i can have this for 50 dollars more. But then again, the nook is awesome to read on, if you really like the feel of books more than an LCD screen. decisions....

higher dpi screens are more expensive
compact packaging is more expensive
cellular basebands are more expensive
antennas are more expensive.
design/engineering/testing costs are more expensive

and last but most important: the nexus 7 is a loss leader, they're selling it close to cost. the $600 for a mobile phone includes a healthy profit margin for the manufacturer and all the middlemen.

If you look at the price difference between LTE and wifi only versions of the same tablet, the difference isn't that much.
Smaller screens are generally cheaper even if they are higher DPI.
The 8gb Nexus 7 is being sold at cost but the 16gb is making a decent profit.
Smartphones have gotten a lot bigger in recent years so I doubt there is much challenge or cost in fitting everything in a package that size.

I think high end smart phones are being sold at well over 100% profit margins and both the carriers and manufacturers would like to keep it that way, and there is price fixing going on.

Went to check it out at stapkes, ended up buying it. Its really nice, screen is beautiful, blacks are deep, and colors are OK. Not as nice as my gnex, but nice.

My only problem is the speaker on the back. I was watching YouTube and I thought it was just a bad video, so I installed Pandora and its just as bad. I get crackling when the volume is half way. Any higher and its so bad you can't use it.

I don't know if I got a bad one or what, but I might be taking a ride to staples tomorrow to compare it to the demo unit. Anyone else have this problem?

I received mine today from J&R. I'm very impressed. Tablet looks and feels fantastic in hand. Google hit a home run with Nexus 7. I can't believe this is $200/$250 device.

No problem with sound quality here either.

crap. Looks like ill be taking a ride back there tomorrow. Its very noticeable, and not like ill be listening to a lot on it, but a broken speaker is a broken speaker.

Anything more than halfway turned up results in crackling.

I'm so impressed with the tablet that I picked up two more to give as gift, 8gb and 16gb. Staples has 8gb available in stores for $199. They're the only store I know that's selling the 8gb version other than Google PlayStore. You save on shipping if you buy from Staples.

the biggest problem im having with the N7 is the play store. trying to find apps and seeing people with phones posting that it works with their product. I wish the store was separated by devices for easy picking.

Has anyone found a good ad block for the n7 chrome?

ad-free android should block most if not everything. it uses basically the same modified MVPS hosts file you can use on your PC

Is anyone else experiencing really low audio levels on netflix? I played 3 movies and they were barely audible unless it's silent where I happen to be. Other audio is almost too loud sometimes, though obviously not amazing sounding via the tiny built in speaker(s).

I also just noticed that the sent items folder in my Exchange email account lists all items with the senders name, which is obviously my name, making it quite useless. Gmail correctly lists the recipient at the top of each item.

click see more reviews, and then you can filter by app version and device type. set device to Nexus 7 to see what N7 owners said

I've always used MX Video Player.

Just noticed Google has the 16GB back in stock. Bought two.

I got my 16gb last night and it's really nice I'm glad I picked one of these up. I'm tempted to buy some 8Gb ones for presents now since they're such a great deal.
