Anyone that's rooted having the standby issues that ponyo is having? I've been going back and forth about rooting and ROMing. Stock, pretty much offers everything I need.

5% drain in 11 hours here running Paranoid Android with the Trinity kernel. It was completely unused in that span.

do you have many notifications going on? facebook, twitter, gtalk? shrug. i suppose this can be impressive, but at the same time an iPad can probably use 1% in that same amount of time while pushing plenty of things.

I'm a little unhappy with it's performance as a music player. I was hearing occasional skips or static while listening to a few mp3s last night. It could be because I was also downloading a lot of music at the time over wifi, I hope. Also not too happy about the actual headphone jack, there is a small gap and a standard headphone jack doesn't go all the way in. And why do they put it on the bottom of the device, where it's going to be resting if you are holding it in portrait mode? Annoying.

Haven't noticed any skipping audio yet. But I'm not crazy about the audio jack location either. I will flip the tablet around, but then I basically got my palm resting against the power button and that is an accident waiting to happen. That power button isn't in such a great spot either because I definitely have turned off the screen quite a few times when trying to volume up.

I've gotten used to the power button placement (after multiple occasions of WTF). I really dislike the audio jack location. I don't understand the placement at the bottom, same with my Galaxy Nexus. It's not too bad on the phone, but at night I'll usually just rest the tablet on my chest in bed, so left with landscape or flip it around.

Google said they did put some thought behind on where to add the jack. They said that they always noticed that on tablets the headphone cord would often fall across the screen during usage which was bothersome when using the tablet. As such they put the jack on the bottom.

I ordered that yesterday. I plan using it with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. Reviews are positive and price is cheap. I should get it tomorrow.

Nice. Let us know what you think.

I was actually just wondering, since this will place the tablet "in your face" in a car, is there any way(app?) to control my BB Bold 9930, once paired via bluetooth, to make and answer calls on it? Would be nice if I could use it as the mic & speaker as well... basically replicating the bluetooth calling functionality in newer cars.

I just don't trust those suction cups. Lots of positive reviews though...

Depends how it's designed. The suction cups on my official Samsung car mount for the 7" Galaxy Tab mount are awesome and pretty much impossible to accidentally fall. Looking at the pictures, these don't seem that strong or well designed. But I'll probably use it more with the Galaxy Nexus so I doubt it'll be issue for me.

Anyone have a car mount for their nexus 7? I was thinking of grabbing one of these Arkon SM517 Windshield Mount for 7-Inch Tablets from amazon for $11. Anything better out here?

Is that legal where you live? I seem to recall some states having laws about the maximum size of things you can mount to windshields, with some being as small as 2" x 2" (which makes me wonder how people get away with mounting even a small GPS).

I was just about to head out to the local Walmart & pick up a 16gb Nex7 this morning. Something told me to check Craigslist before I left. Low & behold, there was an 8gb Nex7 listed for $150, bnib. Met the guy an hour later & snapped it up. Still had the cellophane on the unit. Once I signed into Google on it I got an email about the free $25 on the Play store. Could not be happier!

That's a sweet deal.

Anyone doing any VOIP with their Nexus 7s? Thinking about getting GrooveIP.

94% battery after 22 hours idle. Still had gmail notifications going, so only mostly idle I guess. Idle power usage seems great IMO.

Just running stock, no custom rom or anything.

It's what I use. Works perfectly.
If you don't mind having the Nexus 7 lower, a cupholder mount as mentioned in this article would work well.

Neither do I, suction cup mounts always seem to fall off whenever I use them. I used epoxy on mine, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I bought this.

http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Sleep...blason+nexus+7

My two main considerations were that the case didn't completely cover the bezels and that it didn't make the device three times as thick or heavy as it would be uncased (which some cases actually do, if you read the Amazon reviews). This case also happens to contain a magnet that wakes up the Nexus 7 when you open the cover which I didn't plan for but is a very nice extra.
