Ordered the 8gb version from the Play Store a day after announcement. Just patiently waiting for it to be shipped. I actually called earlier this wk to see if I could cancel my order and instead order the 16gb version but the rep said it was too late because they were being prepared to ship and recommended I refuse delivery and be reimbursed. That could take another 2 wks though, so i may just keep the 8gb. From what I could tell, they support USB OTG(?), which is something I've never used before, but becomes less of a deal breaker for storage so 8gb *should* be enough.

The whole "you can't cancel because it's shipping soon" is reminiscent of Amazon's free shipping. But Amazon doesn't charge $14 for that kind of treatment. Google's complete lack of communication on this whole thing is just turning it into a clusterfuck where retailers have people who have paid for the devices that are in their hand on the advertised date, yet can't complete the sale.

Being told "We have it, but won't give it to you, nor will we let you cancel. And we won't tell you when or why." is poor customer service. Even the Google reps are just guessing with each one telling people a different answer.

Shrug, Google never said a firm date at any point since they started taking pre orders. They could take another month and still fulfill their obligations, but they are still within their original 3-5 week time frame.

I'm so tired of companies that announce something with no specific date in mind. How about produce the devices, THEN announce them and put them up for sale immediately then. This pre-order/wait/guessing game is BS. At the very least give a concrete date.

Well apparently there is rumor that shipping notices and updates through orders on Google Play are actually showing shipped and with delivery dates 07/13 for some. Oddly, now I can't find the site that posted a pic of someone's update in Google Play now. I'm still showing pending and my cc hasn't been charged yet so who knows. The guessing is annoying and I'd like Google to at least address us somehow.

Engadget had it, I believe.

Droid Life has reports that Office Depot and Game Stop have been letting people pick up their pre orders. Still nothing on my Play account for shipping for mine though.

Also, there are now large numbers of TouchPads, TF101s, GTabs, etc for sale on Swappa. The Nexus cometh.

Browsing the web on it is similar to browsing on a 10in 1280x800 tablet like the TF300. Except you have to scroll and zoom around more. Several reviews I've seen on the N7 did take it through several web sites though.

ok, thanks. Don't have much reference. Tested a Nook tablet real quick in store, but didn't try the browsing that much. Magazines were a pain with only showing about half a page on screen.

I'm not so keen on the scrolling around deal, get annoying pretty fast. If that's the case I think a 10" would be better as a couch web device, but then again those cost more than I'm willing to spend on something like that.

Think I need to find a nexus 7 to test out, or at last a video review.

Didn't play much with reading magazines on a Nook Tablet, but I do use my Tab 8.9 with the Nook app to read my Running Times. Using the Article View to read the articles works MUCH better than just trying to read them on the normal view. I think the 10in 1080p tablets would probably be better for that.

On magazines, I really feel that the tablet is an ideal medium. Distribution costs are virtually nil, current issues can be downloaded in seconds, and there's potential to easily download back issues in seconds too. Unfortunately, it seems that most nook/kindle magazines are simply PDFs of the printed editions and don't utilize the strengths of the tablet at all. But thats a discussion for another thread.

Anyone getting rid of their HP Touchpad to get this as a replacement?

I'm keeping mine as well - the newest dailies are running smoothly for me - finally comfortable with updating the new builds now. Pretty simple process once I understood it. Might get a Nexus also though - have a Nook Color with ICS on it but it struggles a bit - mostly with the screen sensitivity. Like the 7" size at times.
