I've had 3 Nexus 7 tablets. They've all had issues with washed out colors, over exposure during and after playing videos, bad ghosting, and two of them also had the glass separating from the bezel.

If I could ignore the poor looking colors, I would otherwise completely love the tablet. Jelly Bean is great, performs well, feels great in my hand. I so wish I could have gotten one without a defective screen. But I figure 3 tries is about all I can handle, getting a refund and returning them.

I picked up my Nexus 7 a few days ago. Build quality is superb... I am really picky when it comes to fit and finish and mine is flawless. Seems odd that someone would get 3 in a row with that poor of quality... Makes one wonder if shipping is the result of some of these issues.

I just bought mine last night from Google Play. Looking forward to it! By the way what is everyone going with for case?

Naked. 99% of the time I'm using it at the house so I don't see the point of a case.

Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 are perfect companion. Both use the same stock OS so the switch from phone to tablet when I get home is seamless. My phone battery life feels doubled.

There are some extremely picky and OCD people out there. Just read the thread over at XDA Nexus 7 General.

It's not a matter of being OCD or picky. There are a lot of defective units shipping out. All of us aren't just imagining it or got nothing better to do than hang out on the phone with Google support or wait for the next UPS delivery.

I have no explanation why some of us are getting bad tablet after bad tablet. But unfortunately this is the kind of crap that seems common with ASUS tablet launches.

Picked mine up. It is the bomb. One nice thing: tax free weekend on tablets at Gamestop. Because I picked it up today, ended up leaving with an extra ten bucks. Total cost for tablet: $147.

I don't seem to have any of the glass issues, at least from what I can tell. Not sure yet about the image retention issue, still charging and I've got ice cream to eat.

For a $199 tablet, nothing else come close.
The design is nice but build quality is not top notch.
Seems like screen isn't attached to the body tightly like it should.
When I'm holding it, I can feel it moving/making small squeaky noise.
Not really a complain but an observation.

BTW, call me stupid but does Jellybean have the pinch-in to see all the screens ??
How can you add more screens ??

You'd have to use a 3rd party launcher from the market for those things, they are not in stock Jellybean.

It is awesome. So far, don't seem to have the image retention problems. Screen is sharp enough that I can read the forum in chrome in portrait without zooming in. Very solid in hand.

Mine just came in today (fast shipping!) and I definitely do notice the glass issue on the left side of the tablet. Swiping across that area doesnt seem problematic though. Sound also seems to be fine.

Mine came on the 1st. Been playing non-stop with it. This is my first Android device, and I really like it (iPhone 4S + iPad 2 user). JellyBean on the Nexus 7 really feels smooth, although still not as smooth as iOS overall. But the sheer amount of "stuff" I can do feels very empowering.

I think I got lucky and seems to have dodged most of the issues I've been reading of - raised screen, speaker issues, wifi issues, dead pixels. The only thing strange I've witnessed seems to be somewhat of an erratic auto-brightness. It seems a bit overly sensitive, so I just turn it off and now using a widget that allows quicker manual brightness tuning. Also noticed a slight bit of lcd image-retention, but haven't noticed any since, not quite sure what happened. Will keep an eye out though.

Browser-wise, I feel Chrome is a bit sluggish (I've turned GPU acceleration to always on). Dolphin HD seems smoother. I also don't like the fact that I can't seem to sort my bookmarks???

Overall the device feels very slick and high quality. I really like the textured back. I've rooted it, mostly for the USB OTG capability, which has always been an envy of mine towards Android products.

Overall very happy with the purchase!

I got the 8gb version from I/O and use it often and love it. However, I've taken a few long trips since June and have wished for a bit more space. If I had the 16gb I could easily copy plenty of content on there for my trips without worrying about transcoding the video files smaller.

I'm on the fence about buying the 16gb or holding off for the next generation.

I'm not getting good standby time with mine. I'm losing about 1% an hour which is similar to my Touchpad CM9 nightly standby drain. After checking BetterBatteryStats app partial wakelock, it seems Network location locator for Google maps is preventing the tablet from entering and staying in deep sleep. Usage wise the tablet battery life is excellent for 7" but I can't solve the standby drain. 1% an hour is unacceptable to me.

Hmmm.... Don't know, not rooted, everything syncing, location services enabled and what not.

It's officially been 2 weeks since I've had my Nexus 7 (16GB). This is my second tablet (third really; I had an HP TouchPad for a month). It is directly replacing an ASUS first gen Transformer TF101. I use this tablet WAY more than either of my previous ones (which were both a bit chunky, especially the TouchPad).

All I can say is that this thing blows the Transformer out of the water in every way possible. It literally weighs half as much (340g vs 680g). The Transformer would lag doing just about anything - opening an ap, turning pages on the home screen, multitasking, etc. the Nexus essentially never lags. It's night and day. I was starting to get frustrated that Google would never "get it" and get Apple-like smoothness in their UI. Then Android 4.1 happened!

I use the Nexus instead of my kindle for reading much of the time (being able to read at night in the dark is a huge plus). I do a lot of website browsing on the couch with the Nexus. I do the usual email/news checking on the Tablet as if it's an oversized version of my phone. I check my ebay auctions on it, use the calendar, etc.
------

Full disclosure: I have the slightly loose screen on the top-left side. I did open it and tighten the screws (which eliminated the creaky sound but didn't completely get rid of the play when you push down). I don't have any backlight problems or issues with colour or ghosting. I may decide to exchange this tablet down the line but I'm enjoying it too much for now to let it go!

Anyone that's rooted having the standby issues that ponyo is having? I've been going back and forth about rooting and ROMing. Stock, pretty much offers everything I need.

I got mine today. A 16GB from gamestop. The ~$150 trade in credit I got from trading in old ipods made it too good of a deal to pass up.

I already have a kindle fire, and this overlaps it in function, but I won't be getting rid of the kindle- amazon video is still not yet available on other android devices and it's just too convenient for that.

How much do they pay for iPod trades? I have an original iPod touch and some older models.

I've been going back and forth from my touchpad to my nexus. It's just amazing how smooth and quick it is, still not used to it.
