As far as people saying, just go and tell the cashier. Sorry, but it's not so easy. You try asking the cashier to correct something after you just paid with your debit card and she hands you the receipt and you see overcharges. They'll say, sorry, I can't do anything about it from here. You'll need to step over to customer service and wait in a long line for half an hour to get a 25 cent credit.

Also, the store which had the 99 cent endcap display as I mentioned does not have those "shopper cards". This was nothing but a nefarious attempt to defraud customers into thinking they could get cereal for 99 cents. And it happens all the time because grocery store prices are down to the margin and they try all sorts of tricks to make an extra buck. They also don't take down the previous weeks sale items signs until the middle of the next week. Customers grab the item thinking it's on sale not reading the fine print and it rings up at full price at the register. How many of them catch it or want to deal with the hassle of stepping over to customer service to get their small credits after the bill has been rung up?

<< sure it's theft but you people are taking it way too seriously. >>

Yea, I wonder if the people who seem to decry this as the worst thing in the world ever participated in one of those Hot Deals where you have to buy an item at one store, go to another store, PM it, present a printed online coupon and then buy it, return the unit to the other store, then send in for retailer and manufacturer rebates.

Well, so the overcharging and shoplifting hold some sort of balance. It's even.

I Think it's wrong simply for the mere fact that you can add zeros to those numbers. For instance

$4.99 -> $2.99
$40.99 -> $20.99
$400.99 -> $200.99
$4000.99 - $2000.99

it's not that big of a deal because it's not large numbers, but once they're all proportionalit's more of a theft... I mean... if you did deals like that on our FS/FT forum you'd be considered a low baller and no one would ever trade with you. It's like that outside of the forums.. Don't do it.. it's wrong.. and it is stealing.

oh yeah... if you didn't want to pay their price you could always go somewheres else... it's part of the economy of the United States of America, there are no monopoly's (Except for government, but that's another thread). A third of the money goes to the buisness goes to the bills the buisness has to pay.... a third goes to pay for the workers, and a third goes to the owner. You cut that amount in half so now all that has to be condensed.. what if you where the manager of that place? your job just became allot harder.

"oh yeah... if you didn't want to pay their price you could always go somewheres else... "

i think he feels it goes a little beyond that.

"A third of the money goes to the buisness goes to the bills the buisness has to pay.... "

...and where do you think our hard earned money goes?? if every business overcharged us by little each time we pay for something, it would add up to a significant amount.

i not for stealing, but some consumers are sick of getting ripped, and are taking action.

yeah, thats wrong dood.. Funny tho. I was in Canadian Tire, and there was this hockey stick i wanted that was like $90, so I took the sale tag from a $30 stick and replaced the $90 one, then I went to the dumbest cashier I could find, and got it for $30

Lesson is, never do this. It's wrong. It was just good for a laugh.

Why would you say that and then follow it with "Never do this. It's wrong?" You did it, you knew it was wrong and then you try to absolve yourself and appease the other side of the argument by telling us to never do it? WTF?

I believe you ARE for stealing, if your previous posts here are any indication.

I find it pathetic that people here are rationalizing this as some kind of consumer vigilante-ism. It is theft, plain and simple, and the consumer has no right to just decide what he thinks is a fair price. The motto, "Buyer Beware" has applicability here - if you feel you have been overcharged, DEAL WITH IT then and there. This does not give you license to steal.

Anyone who defends this practice is kidding himself if he thinks this is anything other than straight-up stealing.

Alright. Let's not get carried away. If you do not trust him, don't deal with him - but I don't think he should be banned from the forums. I didn't see anything about a criminal background check in the AT Forum end user agreement or in the official forum rules. Besides, to the best of my knowledge, he's done nothing wrong on the forum - although I'm sure he's regretting starting this thread.

And YOU are a neurotic freak for taking the effort to type all those angry faces. Perhaps YOU should be banned before you fly of the handle and start shooting suspected shoplifters in stores!
