Just in case you didn't AaronP, I'll spell it out. What makes you think after you kill someone the world won't be a better place without you in it. I can't believe this topic.

actually no, that makes perfect sense. I hate him because I still have to use his OS. Because of him, I have no choice. All the game software companies are Windows only, and I like to play games. If they started making Linux versions of all the games, I would switch. >>



You have no choice? Wait a minute. You do have a choice. You can use any OS you want. Don't
complain that you have to have an OS to play games for it. You don't have to have Windows
any more than you have to play games.

Besides, there are lots of games that run on a Linux machine. For those that don't, you
can use wine. I tried it again today and got UT to work (Yes, I know there is a Linux
version, I was just testing it).

You can help by writing game companies and telling them why they should port their games
to Linux.

All that money is tax deductible. And Microsoft owes the US Government much, much more in taxes than a paltry $23.5 billion. So instead of paying all that money to the US Government, Bill Gates pays that money to other channels, and he gets tons of free PR in return. Just look at you, you gave him free PR!

So Bill Gates isn't out a single cent - he would have paid that money one way or another - and he gets billions of dollars worth of free, positive PR that he doesn't have to pay a single cent for.

Do you honestly think that Bill Gates would give away a single cent without making sure that he would earn profits on it? If so, you are exceedingly naive.

If it was Windows dieing on the side of the road I wouldn't help it. But Bill Gates' demise would not lead to the end of windows.

I'd save Bill Gates' life, I have little (and diminishing) respect for windows and MS in general, but Bill Gates is a human being. I'd save his life if I could.

Except that MS is incorporated separately from Bill Gates, and so deductions from Bill Gates contributions can't go to paying MS taxes. Have you ever paid taxes before? Do you really think your charitable works are deducted by your employer?

I'm not convinced that the Bill Gates and Melinda Gates whatever Foundation is a personal charity that Bill Gates shoulders on his own. The name implies this, of course, but this wouldn't be the first time that Bill Gates has used deception.

I think one of two things is happening here. Either this charity is formed and funded by Microsoft, therefore helping lower the taxes that Microst has to pay, or else it is formed and funded by Bill Gates in order to cut down on the taxes that he has to pay due to his income that is not due to Microsoft.

Bill Gates doesn't earn all his money from Microsoft. He has independently invested in a large number of other companies and other revenue channels, on which he has to pay taxes. So the charity would help undercut taxes that he has to pay due to this income.

And besides, once you saved his life you would hopefully get a fairly large sum of money.
