POLL: Xbox 360 + Wii or PS3?

speculation about which console will emerge victorious is still pretty split among the three players. but because of the $600 price tag on the premium ps3 system and predicted low launch price of the wii combined with an xbox 360 price drop, would you buy the 360 and the wii in place of the PS3?

i realize that we still have no idea how much the wii will cost and nor do we know whether or not microsoft will drop the price of the 360, but just pretend that you have a $200-$300 launch price for the wii and a $50-100 price drop on the xbox360 premium so that the combined price is $600. (Imagine a $200 wii price and a $300 xbox360 :shocked: :laugh.

i cant believe sony are asking 599 for the top model

and 499 for the model with a 20gig drive, no memory card reader, no wifi and no HDMI. that basically limits that version to games only.... 499 for games only.

id rather pony up the extra ass raping 100 for the top model so that i can get more than gaming out of the ps3

I'll say this ...

before the conferences, I was pretty sure I was going to get a PS3, and not sure about the Wii. However I still thought Wii would come out on top at E3, PS3 second, and XBox 360 third.

after seeing these conferences, I now am DEFINITELY buying a Wii, most likely NOT buying a PS3, and I still think Wii will be #1 at E3, XBox 360 2nd, and PS3 in a very distant 3rd.

I can't get over how people are so upset about the price? what did you expect? and also, why in the world would 360 drop their price? they are already 200 dollars cheaper.

Put it this way, if Sony wanted to market purely on price, they could have done the following.

Switch HDMI to component. ($30)
Get rid of flash memory ports. ($10)
Switch to DVD-Rom instead of Blue-Ray. ($???????)
Get rid of wireless. ($50)

Right now, you can't even buy a blue-ray player, but when they are released, they will be $999. You are getting one for $600. Add in the cell processor and you have a system that probably costs around $1000 to make. Sony is taking a $400 hit on each system.

Personally, I wouldn't want to give up the features above to save $200-300. I'll happily pay to have the best console around.

Further, this is coming from a pro pc message board, where people spend $300 on a graphics card and $300 on a CPU. And sure, you can use a pc for more than games, but come on, do you really need a 4ghz cpu to play music and surf the internet? You get that power for games.

And this is coming from someone who has a 360. I love it. but to keep laughing at the price of the PS3 is rediculous.

Yeah the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) for the PS3 is near zero for me. No way can I justify spending that kind of money. I got a 360 solely because of the fact that I sold three on eBay and kept one.

the Wii is for children and will die a horrible death becasue of the gimmicky gadgets they are relying on over technology..
