If there are any other products that you feel I should add, you are welcome to let me know about it and I can add it to the poll. Any suggestions to make this list more comprehensive are welcome as well.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Only stuff inside or physically embedded to the outside of a case (like a burner, etc.) will be included in the poll, NO peripherals (this will have to include things like monitors, speakers...). Otherwise the list would go on forever.

KT266A is my vote. The extreme performance increase from the original to the "A" version was one the biggest surprises of the year.

Yes they do. I'd probably have one if the mobo options were better and if they were less expensive. Overall though, the Tualatins compete very well with XP/T-birds and of course the P4.

I voted proudly for nForce 420 mainboards (specifically, 420D) because of their great performance and ease of setup.

In January the Celeron 1.0A and 1.1A will be out. These are 100 MHz FSB, 256K cache .13u Tualatin CPUs. The 1.0A should be ~ $80, the 1.1A, ~ $100. The Tualatins should do 1.5 GHz easily. You can do a 1.0A @ 150 FSB or a 1.1 @ 137 FSB to get to 1.5 GHz. There are plenty of sub $100 815 B step boards out there. Nice setup for under $200. I may do the 1.0a @ 1.5 myself.

Why isn't the i845 DDR in the poll?

They've barely been selling more than a week, so I don't think many people will be able to say much about it.

Edited.

Most likely due to its immense case of lackluster performance.

Most likely due to its immense case of lackluster performance.

Actually, the i845 DDR boards perform within 1% or so of the highest performance platform (i850) out on the market. Search for some reviews, you'll see.

I've seen it. I was referring to the fact that it is inferior to the SiS 645, the Via P4X266, and the Via P4X266A.

I actually just bought my first burner too. (Liteon 24x, had been borrowing my moms from her compaq because she doesn't ever use it and didn't care - internet and a few games only) My Liteon was only $80 +$5 shipping and I ordered it Tuesday at 7:00PM and is was here on Friday afternoon. Less than 3 days total and it was ordered at night............. You really have to love Holiday shipping and newegg.com.

But I got my first real video card just a while ago (my best was a Geforce 2 MX that I had majorly overclocked, but it was still lackluster compared to this Geforce 3 Ti450 Golden Sample from Gainward. So that was my vote.
