My vote went to the AXP, damn cheap processing power.

But I must say, this EPoX 8KHA+ has been really nice to me as well, very nice combo

Sadly my was DOA (shipping damage).

But then I ordered the K7N420 for $174 shipped from Newegg a couple days ago.

I went for G3 seeing how it is dominating the high end video card.
XP wasn't really enough of an improvement from the previous Athlons be be given hardware of the year.

Im ready to take it on this one, I voted for the ibm hard drive, not the crappy 75gxp, but the 60gxp which i have not had any problems with, and all of the new systems i have built i put them in. I have not had one come back yet. right now I am running 2 60gxp 60gig's in raid0 and they are kickin some major ass

i'd say XP 1800s, 1900s..even if i really dont like their idiotic PR rating systems..anyway its the best CPU right now so i give it the points

Points too to KT266A chipsets, especially Epox8kha+, Soyo Dragon+ and the others, and a BIG thumps down to the hype of the year with nothing behind it....: Nfarts !

Radeon 8500 deserves a vote too (you ask for HARDWARE, not drivers

I'm asking exactly what the title says, "Your Favorite Computer Hardware of 2001." I don't think anyone would choose the Radeon 8500 (or the GeF3 either) if the drivers caused BSOD's on a daily basis.

Therefore, your favorite computer hardware includes how good the software support that comes with it.

Hell yeah! I got a dreamcast with two controllers, one memory card, and one game for just over $100. Now that's a great deal.

AGodspeed, how about the cdrw drive that doesn't use "zone" recording! Yamaha's 3200 24X burner is only about 10 seconds slower to record a 74min disc than those zone 32X drives, comes with a 8mb buffer, AudioMaster recording, and Safeburn. One hell of a burner.

Maybe AMD can help Yamaha set-up a recording performance rating system

Looking at the list, the hardware that has added the most functionality, to me, is the ATI AIW 8500DV.
Hopes are up for affordable dvd burners and hdtv tuner cards in 2002, but more than likely they'll have to wait til 2003.
