Pentium dual core--------> [Celeron / i3] (2core as well)

great oc!

something went wrong?

I scratched some of the PCB off the proc and now theres some exposed copper. It never really ran right after that. But it holds 4.3 at stock volts perfectly.

I'm surprised how many people fall into the "Intel (higher socket) [i7] - 4 core" category. Why get only 4 cores on the higher socket?

P.S. If you want to see my rig, see my sig. No discrete video card for it yet.

- not many 3820 and 4820k were sold (the only "recent" 4 core cpu on socket 2011 chipset x79).
- most of the 4core on higher socket are old nehalem on socket 1366 chipset x58

it s possible that some of the voting users don t know the existence of higher sockets (enthusiast) with X chipsets (1366 and 2011 with x58 x79 x99 chipsets) or they don t know that in older times there were quad core cpus on these. (on the recent x99 they re at least 6core)

SuperMicro H8QGi-F running 4 x Opteron 61xx ES (48 K10 cores, of which 8 are overclocked to 3.5 Ghz, and another 8 are overclocked to 3.6 GHz at 1.275v, the rest idle at 2.1 GHz, and 1.4 GHz). i think these chips could go higher with more voltage... but the 92mm Noctua HSF won't cool them properly (the larger ones won't fit in my SuperMicro case). Basically this is a Phenom X16....

For now my i3 6100 is sufficient for my gaming needs, used to have an i7 3770K (OC'd to 4.5GHz with stock voltage, silicon lottery chip) but had to sell it for money to pay for moving but will get a i7 6700K soon. My i5 3550 (OC'd to 3.9GHz) is a general purpose office/virtual machine system and my FX 4350 is a dust collector (seriously).

Ehh, BW-K has to be one of the most disappointing releases of recent times. Very little if any ipc gain, probably lower max performance because all the ipc gain and more is eaten up by poorer overclocking. And the pricing for the 10 core is outrageous.

Edit: no offense meant to anyone who purchased 6950x, if you can afford it and want it, more power to you. But the price would have been a bit more palatable if it was a super overclocker.

I have a 5930k which I currently run at 4.25 GHz, due to the 125MHz strap for 2800 MHz RAM. I also have a 4930k rig and a 980X rig. 6 is a good number for cores
