Looking to play counter strike: source, which is the better buy?

eVGa

or

BFG

Or if you think I made the wrong choice, what video card would be better for under $140?
(PCI-Express) ATI or Nvidia, no matter.

Thanks,
Westi

bfg....rollin with the dual-dvi. You can always just use an adapter for any D-SUB in the house.
Plus the added factory overclock. for just $1 more AR? very nice.

I have a bfg ti4200 that just died. I called them up and they are supposed to be sending me a replacement 6600 (or something); I'll let you know when (or if) it comes!

Evga's service is waaay ahead of BFG's. I've had trouble rma'ing a bfg 6600 gt, but had no problems stepping up from a 7800 gt to a 7900 gt.

I'd take that over a few extra mhz that you can just clock yourself.

EVGA is excellent with their RMA, but it sounds like you've never experienced BFG's customer service or RMA before. They have 24-7 phone support and advanced RMA (within the USA).

Now all companies will have a hiccup once in a while, and a quick browse thru the EVGA forums shows some RMA fiascos.

eVGA. I just sent in FOUR (yes, that's right, FOUR) defective BFG cards. One of my two 6800 GT OC's in SLI went out and they sent me a replacement card (a 6800GTX, which was not only the wrong card so I couldn't use SLI, but was defective as well), then a 6800GT, which was DOA... and then another 6800GT which froze after 5min of CS Source, and my LAST 6800GT which had the same problem as the previous one... and I know for a fact the cards were defective because my other, working 6800GT didn't have any of the problems the replacement cards did. After all that, they finally sent me a 7900GT OC to compensate for the time I've gone without a working card (this all took the better part of 4 months to resolve) and I'm selling that card to a friend because I'm DONE with all the hassles BFG gave me.

What good is 24/7 phone support and a lifetime warranty if they can't even send you a working replacement card?

BTW: Just purchased two EVGA 7900 GTO's and am running them now, with no problems. So there.

i've owned both.

BFG 7800GT OC
eVGA 7800GT CO

So basically I sold my BFG for an eVGA. Why? With the BFG I modded it and put on a VF700. They said they would not take my card for warranty. I had some issues with a very fuzzy screen: see here, and this was only an issue with my computer and my BFG card. I tried it on a friend's computer for 2 weeks and it worked fine. I figured it was my system not liking the BFG card. My friend's computer who also had another BFG 7800GT traded wtih me and it worked flawlessly (no fuzziness). However since BFG doesn't want to do warranty because I modded my card with a 3rd party cooler, I decided to sell it on eBay.

I bought an eVGA and their warranty policy = lifetime + OCing + 3rd party cooler. How much better can you get?

eVGA all the way.

I've owned both. Don't get me wrong, BFG cards are good, but with a policy like eVGA, you gotta do better...

Never used BFG, I've used eVGA twice and I've been happy with them. From what I hear, eVGA has better support than BFG and I'm pretty sure eVGA covers overclocking.
