I'm actually surprised it took this long. Probably the scariest movie when i was a kid. Born in 73'. Im sure it will suck though lol

Saw the trailer today, wasn't that impressed. I LOVE the original, one of my favorite horror movies of all time, really worried about a remake. That said, it is Sam Raimi which means it could go either way. I'm sure I'll see it, but I'm prepared to be heavily let down.

I had an old, old TV in my room. After I first saw the movie, it made it impossible to have that TV in my room. It would randomly click and make weird noises, and I just couldn't have any of it, not after that movie.

In a way they have been remaking this for years with all of the haunted house poltergeisty movies recently.

I like the original film, but it does not really hold up all that well so it's probably due for a remake. Won't have high hopes up for it being great though.

I pretty much boycott all remakes/reboots. This will be no exception. Not gonna spend my money on obvious cash grabs. Come up with something more original ffs.

I agree with KeithTalent - the original, though a very good movie, seems pretty dated. I'm optimistic that this remake will be pretty decent - decent enough for me to watch on Netflix or something.

Oh, and yet again ATOT to the physics class: in the trailer, when they're holding the doorknob - just did that today with the van de graaff generator.

I suppose for a younger viewer (that is, someone that didn't see it when it first came out) the movie hasn't aged well. I still like it.

I'm sure they will put a modern spin on it and do something REALLY stupid, like scaring people to death by having a dripping wet, 110 pound girl walk out of a TV set.

I don't think anyone knows how to make scary movies anymore. A remake of Poltergeist will probably suck terribly.

The girl playing Carolann does at least look like her in the face, but really why remake something. I GET that in our day there were remakes too (that we love The Thing..?? etc) but there was a large difference in movies from the 50's to the movies of the 80's/90's. Not like today.

Granted, I'm assuming there are lots of 15-25 year olds who have never seen the original....so maybe..it doesn't matter.

Yep. I still love the movie, but I saw it as a kid and there is definitely some nostalgia in my appreciation. It's due for an update.
