Pomegranates - do you eat the seeds?

Mmm, I love pomegranate, how the hell can you not eat the inside of the seed?

never had one. Is there any way someone can describe the flavor? I realize this is likely impossible, as no fruit really proves to be any similar to another, and thus comparisons to other flavors are probably impossible.

I used to eat them when I was a kid. The problem with poms is that they leave the worst stains. Like grape juice it's almost impossible to get out.

It's kind of like a cross between a tart cherry and a plum.

I've always spit, but I wouldn't be opposed to swallowing them. I probably have a couple of times. I used to have a pomegranate tree in the backyard.

I grew up with 3 wonderful pomegranate trees. October was my favorite month of the year because it was pomegranate season.

I always, ALWAYS ate the seeds.

yeah. but pomegranates are good.

The seeds are non soluble fiber right? It just gets passed through the system but that is healthier anyways. It depends, I eat the seeds sometimes, sometimes not.

Where does pomegranates grow? Tepid, warm environments. Dry and arid. Cold....?

I wouldn't mind growing one if they could grow in Texas.

So, I went and ate about a cupful of the little fruits, seeds and all, over the weekend. Nothing's come of it so far, at least not that I've noticed. So I guess they are safe after all :thumbsup:.
