<< Shows how desperate Pontiac is to sell an Aztek >>

That is definately one HOMELY vehicle. The front reminds me of one of those 3D jigsaw puzzles.

LOL

**Midnight Rambler BOUGHT ONE!**

Man they sold you the London Bridge!

Seriously, they tried to give me an Aztec at the rental counter and I told them where they could shove it. However, my friend wasn't so bold and he was the laughing stock at the convention. Wouldn't valet because people would see him driving up in it!

I agree it may sometimes make heads turn for the wrong reasons but I don't think it's that ugly. For 50 bucks I'd test drive it.

I read in Autoweek a while back that they're already redesigning the Aztek for 2002 (maybe an early 2003) because the sales have been so poor.

<< but EVERY one of these hideous things that I have seen locally (Seattle) has had a CANADIAN license plate...what does that mean??? >>

It means your idea of trying to say something funny failed miserably.

Try again.

*shudders* If it were painted all the way, like a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, it might be BEARABLE to look at.... that car is just despicable on the eyes, same with the "new" "model" of a "secret" drawing.

They should give the ASS-Tek away as donations in 3rd world nations...or anywhere that style doesn't count. Hell with the tent, people could live in it (great for itinerant workers!). Pontiac could consider it a tax write off to unload these monsters and they could do some good in the process.

If that pic of the "secret redesign" is for real...this thing is only gonna get uglier.

The new ones look a lot better. I've actually seen qutie a lot of these around the suburbs of detroit. They are ugly as sin, but i'd still buy it over any ford, any day... (besides maybe a cobra-r or a lightning, but that's a whole different class of car). Oh, by the way, don't buy focus's. My friend puts on the hoods, and one out of every 4 has a hood misalignment problem. Knowing that, I wonder what else is wrong with the car

Man is Pontiac desperate. Never ever would I buy any of their crappy cars. The handling is one of the worst I have ever experienced. I am sticking to Benz, a truely comfortable sedan without the problems of GM engineering.

Hey, AL

Did they add cup-holders to the nouveau riche Benz yet? I'll keep my bucks in the bank, thanks but no thanks!

this thread is too funny

<< And the real shocker is that GM/Pontiac toured/surveyed well over 300 college campuses with the Aztek, and it got highly favorable reviews/comments, incl. over 73% "approve of/like" the design. >>

Guess that'll teach them to give college kids $50 for their opinion. Proof that QFD is POS.

LMAO

You would buy that before any Ford? You've got to be kidding! GM makes some of the most unreliable cars on the road. Ford isn't the greatest, but they are a hell of a lot better than GM, and YES, I am speaking from experience. Did you know that GM is trying to force Saturn out of business by making the LS models so unreliable. It ranks as one of the most unreliable in history, along with the Catera, based on the same platform. GM was starting to look bad, seeing Saturn making cars much more reliable than theirs. Imports only for me though. I like my cars to last. I'm already wearing my suit, so flame away.

What are you talking about? Why on earth would a company like GM sabotage the profits of one of the key models in a key division? The compact car market is red hot and Saturn puts GM in a perfect position to compete in this arena. Sabotaging the LS? Ridiculous. It's not selling because other than the plastic panels, there are no really gee-whiz features or styling with this car that would make it stand out compared to the Camry and Accord, its main targets.

Also, the Catera is NOT based on the same platform as the Saturn LS. For one thing, the LS is front-wheel drive and the Catera is rear-wheel drive. The only major similarities is that they were both designed by Opel and they have the same engine (along with some Saabs). The Catera failed because Cadillac took a good European car and had to add a ton of weight to it to meet U.S. safety standards. There goes much of the sportiness. And again it had no special features or styling to make it stand out against BMW/Mercedes/Audi, its main targets.

Enough flaming on this though. Pontiac missed its mark with the Aztek, but they will very likely have a direct hit with the Vibe (which is mostly designed by Toyota).
