Pool owners - what is a no chlorine pool?

Just found out the new home's pool is "no chlorine". I've read about newer pool maintenance but what was this guy talking about "no chlorine". He paid somebody for all the maintenance so I'm not really sure.

It uses salt instead of chlorine. Salt water pools are pretty common in costal areas. It should be easier to maintain since you're not sealing with a dangerous chemical.

Well the seller said they'd open earlier and close later because it was a "no chlorine" pool and stuff wouldn't grow. Sounds like I need to talk to the people that did the maintenance on it.

Believe it or not, I trust ATOT over google anyday. But what you linked isn't this pool, just a standard sand filter, no special equipment.

It's either a salt water pool as previously mentioned, or it uses an ion filter like this one:

My parents had one, was an electrolysis based salt system. However, the rest of the water chemistry is just as important as the salt content.

Probably a salt water pool. They are a lot nicer to swim in than a typical fresh water pool. I know 3 people with salt water pools and none of them are non-chlorine. They do use LESS chlorine, but not zero chlorine.

My neighbor has a salt system for their pool, I love it. It's a bit more costly than a chlorine system both to install and maintain but it's so much nicer. I can open my eyes underwater and it's not as harsh on the hair and skin.

bromine salt instead of chlorine.
