Can't really dust it because the skin particles in your hand get ground into the fibers of the mouse pad, so when you take your finger nail and "scrape" the pad, you can see all the skin particles come out (thats when you know it's dirrty).

I would probably say skin flakes not particles .. unless you have uber zoom configured on your eyeball..

Wash and dust off ever so often when needed.

The ability to do it is the reason I got one of those hard plastic surface mouse pads. Got tired of replacing cloth mouse pads when it starts to peel and it's a PITA to clean 'em. As for using my desk as a mousing surface, not exactly something I'd prefer since it grinds down the mouse feet too fast for my liking.

with an optical mouse on a hard surface, you really don't need a mousepad, in my view.

I like using a mouse pad anyway since it feels smoother. I'm sure there's a bunch of food/liquid, dead skin and oils absorbed into it and it's making it really disgusting. I'm going to buy a new mousepad soon and retire my 10 year old Circuit City mouse pad. It's not as smooth as it once was and my mouse has a noticable ammout more drag.

Can you wipe that stuff on anything? Will it damage it? I was wondering if using that stuff on a computer screen,tv screen, plastic or other things would be a very good idea or not.
