poor epox and highpoint!!!!!

system: epox8k7a+ with HPT370(A), 2x256mb crucial, creative tnt2 ultra, sblive value, maxtor plus60 30gb and western digital 15gb harddisks on highpoint port masters, win2000 pro, 8k7a ver1711 bios.

problems with using highpoint ver1.11.0512 and also ver1.11.0612 drivers:
skippy/jerky mouse and sound problems. hibernate function well.

due to above problems...tried old highpoint ver1.0.3 drivers:
mouse and sound problems solved. hibernate failed/ hang win2000 when preparing for hibernation.

Ok... you are having similar problems to me. I tried the same drivers and got the same results.

Tell me... do you boot into W2K using a login box? If so, do you notice a second or so delay before the box registers anything you type in as the password? Mine did.

A lot of people are reporting this as a problem with the SBlaster Live! card. However I have mine installed in PCI slot 3 fine, with the onboard sound turned off.

How? By disabling the Highpoint Controller and a complete re-install. Not ideal obviously as we have paid for that part of the board but at least my system is running - hopefully somebody has a solution to this which lets me turn the controller on again.

Are you also having any problems with CD Roms/Writers and DVD Roms attached to IDE1 and IDE2? I had a problem of the drives only being recognised as PIO devices and running VERY slow indeed. Turning DMA mode on made the drives unrecognisable. I have since read at least one other post saying the same so there is a problem.

I am guessing that W2K is having a problem allocating resources to the Highpoint Controller, hence the delay in bootup and the lag in response at the password box. This problem then goes on further to effect the CD/DVD Roms attached as the system is confused. That's my gut reaction anyway.

Most of the problems I am reading about this board are related to the '+' model - the 'standard' non-raid version doesn't seem to be reporting any issues of a similar nature.

Anybody else got any ideas or better still, solutions? There is a problem here - too many people saying the same things.

I've had a similar problem with my setup which drove me insane.

I have a Chaintech IDE Raid PCI card with the highpiont 370A onboard. I flashed the new bios and installed the new drivers and had similar problems. Although I don't use a soundblaster card in this particular system.

The problems were with these drivers and I have had no problems using the 1.0.3b BIOS and drivers in Win2K.

I'll just wait until the next revision before flashing or installing new drivers.

problem cannot be solved yet...they will try to fix it in future bios and driver versions...

At least that is recognition of the problem being real.

It's a good start but for those people needing Raid now (luckily I'm not one of them so my controller is off!) it's needs to be fixed quickly.

Hopefuly Highpoint and Epox can work together and get this resolved.
