Tofu can be in a soup, stir fried pan fried, deep fried, steamed (again).

Or just add soy sauce, green onion and shaved bonito flakes.

Foam rubber can be in a soup, stir fried pan fried, deep fried, steamed (again).

Or just add soy sauce, green onion and shaved bonito flakes.

Ill give you that tofu isn't quite as chewy as foam rubber though.

Man if you're that broke then do a couple hours a day on amazon mechanical turk. I made $3.73 off 9 HITs and its only taken about 2 hours. I just made $18 grand today so I dont do stuff like this for the money. But if I really needed the money I would do it every day. You can use the money to order groceries right off Amazon's own site.

I am starting to think you have never seen fresh tofu.

I'll have to agree with my Welsh bud on this one.

I avoid Tofu at all costs.

My second wife was pretty proficient at preparing it, and I still did not like it.

Might have been one of those factors I guess

Fried bologna sandwiches. My dad use to eat rice and raw ginger with a dash of salt.

Spam, spam, baked bean, spam and spam.

It doesn't have much Spam in it, so you can always substitute the baked beans with some sliced Spam.

Can get a lot of mileage out of a $5 chicken at Sams/Tops/Costco etc.

Remove the meat and simmer the bones for good broth. Add potatoes or veg for soup of the day - hell even tofu. Left over cold meat are great for sandwiches or protein topping in ramen. If u got a lot left, chop it and mix with a can of chicken cream, bag of frozen mixed veg and top with layer of stuffing in oven = pot pie.

Bulk is the way to go.

1 3lb package of ground beef bought on the 'sell the old stuff day' = $6
(still perfectly good, just near the date so they mark it down)
1 3lb bag of white onions = $1.49
1-2 green peppers = ~$1
1-2 packages of shrooms
2 large Ragu or favorite sauce = $5
garlic to season =~$.50
add 2 large stewed tomatoes to go even further $2.00

brown meat, add chopped onions, garlic, green peppers and shrooms
add sauce and stewed tomatoes if you want

makes about 20 servings, and is good; about $.70 a serving

Same with chili and beef stew, with the added bonus you cook in bulk one time and don't have to cook 20 other times because of it.

I get rotisserie whole chicken from my local grocery store chain costing me $4.99.
I tear up a half of it onto some rice, dabble my favorite sauce on it and it's always good. It gives me 2 meals so $2.50 each for a good portion, healthy meal.

Nope. At best it tastes like foam rubber soaked in sauce at worst it tastes like foam rubber.

OP. Buy huge bags of dried pasta and lots of tins of tomatoes. Pasta ala puttanesca, arrabbiata, pasta with oil and garlic...

Come back later and I'll tell you how to cook it.

Yeah I like pasta too but tofu has high quality protein.

As few places as possible to be honest.

How would you describe the taste? Pretty much nothing with a spongy texture? I'll stick with my foam rubber soaked in sauce description until you can make a better one.

I would describe the taste as very similar to egg whites after they are fried (both tofu and the egg whites).

The Science is settled.

All the politicians agree...

Uno

Milk, meat and the energy to cook with? No wonder the Hindus adored this great specimen of cellular structure.

Hindus don’t worship cows. We respect, honour and adore the cow. By honouring this gentle animal, who gives more than she takes, we honour all creatures.

Hindus regard all living creatures as sacred – mammals, fishes, birds and more. We acknowledge this reverence for life in our special affection for the cow. At festivals we decorate and honour her, but we do not worship her in the sense that we worship the Deity.

To the Hindu, the cow symbolizes all other creatures. The cow is a symbol of the Earth, the nourisher, the ever-giving, undemanding provider. The cow represents life and the sustenance of life. The cow is so generous, taking nothing but water, grass and grain. It gives and gives and gives of its milk, as does the liberated soul give of his spiritual knowledge. The cow is so vital to life, the virtual sustainer of life, for many humans. The cow is a symbol of grace and abundance. Veneration of the cow instils in Hindus the virtues of gentleness, receptivity and connectedness with nature.

Elaboration: Who is the greatest giver on planet Earth today? Who do we see on every table in every country of the world –breakfast, lunch and dinner? It is the cow...
