Wow, amazing and yea, all of those shellfish he ate I would prefer raw. The Maine lobster must have cost quite a bit since it has to be flown in live every day. Never seen that type of shrimp here in the states yet.

Thought it sounded like BS but its not...

Wisconsin Republicans Don’t Want Food Stamp Recipients Buying Beans, Potatoes, Pasta Sauce
"The law would restrict access to a whole range of commonplace ingredients. Some of the things that would be harder to buy for poor families who cook include “herbs, spices, or seasonings,” all nuts, red and yellow potatoes, smoothies, spaghetti sauce, “soups, salsas, ketchup,” sauerkraut, pickles, dried beans sold in bulk, and white or albacore tuna."

https://thinkprogress.org/wisconsin...ying-beans-potatoes-pasta-sauce-d9407864cef0/

That ThinkProg article is misleading and inaccurate. The proposed law says that at least 67% of a SNAP recipients monthly amount must be used on WIC approved foods which are supposed to be a more nutritious diet and a subset of normal SNAP foods. SNAP users don't have to buy 67% WIC foods first before using the 33% SNAP approved foods. I'm not sure where they are getting the exceptions they list in the article. Here is a list of WIC approved foods.
https://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/wic-fo...equirements-wic-eligible-foods#MATURE LEGUMES

I would think 50/50 WIC/SNAP would be better than 67/33 and easier to keep up with for the SNAP recipients.

Under this bill, DHS must require that not less than 67 percent of the SNAP
benefits used by a recipient in a month be used to purchase any of the following foods:
foods that are on the list of foods authorized for the federal special supplemental
nutrition program for women, infants, and children (WIC foods); beef; pork; chicken;
fish; fresh produce; and fresh, frozen, and canned white potatoes. In addition, DHS
must prohibit using SNAP benefits for the purchase of crab, lobster, shrimp, or any
other shellfish.

all part of the absurdly expensive seafood tower for 2. not pictured was the chilled stuff - lump crab, clams, and mussels.

Looks good except for the citrus. I don't like citrus on my seafood at all.

Damn. Someone is eating well. Lobster, colossal shrimps, steak, scallops, octopus, lump crab, clams, and mussels. All at a fancy restaurant in beautiful St. Kitts. I'm jealous.

im going to st kitts next month.
how much and where?

Staying at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts. Thankfully the flights and hotel were great deals on points because the hotel food is super pricey. Dinner last night for the 4 of us (2 kids ordering from the kids' menu) was $300 with no booze. $250 the night before. Supposedly there are some less expensive beach shack type places 10 minutes down the beach which we'll look into today.

There is an automatic 10% service charge and 12% tax on everything, so food quickly adds up.

That said... arguably not the worst place to eat a nice dinner.

Hard to tell from the pic, but the "steak" is actually yellowfin tuna.

Hmm, maybe the ultra cheap flight was just using you as a method to then sodomize you on overpriced food?, just a thought. Food did look nice though.

The thing I couldn't understand is how the island residents afford grocery and dining out. I know people who live there don't make much money.

Last night here. More poor people food. Turns out Saturday nights they do a local buffet at the restaurant. Really good. Lobster, ribs, chicken, dolphin, snapper, plenty of local sides/desserts.

so there's no question that cold water lobster is vastly superior to Caribbean lobster, but it was enjoyable enough when mixed with the local fare.

My favorite meal though was no lobster and had at a local restaurant down the beach. Sweet chili sauce wings for me (absolutely delicious) with the wife having a jerk chicken meal (also delicious).

Looks delish! Man can't live on lobster alone! Best part of travel for me is exploring and trying the local food.

I got back from Grand Cayman last week and had the best week of eating in a very long time. Great fresh seafood and as @jeebus mentioned, the jerk chicken there was so damn fantastic. We ate lunch at this one place called Chicken Chicken which was rotisserie chicken and it's the first time I've had non-peruvian rotisserie chicken, and it was fantastic. Their sauces were great as well.

I'm at Busan, South Korea, and my senses are overwhelmed. The markets here are so awesome. Fish cakes at the market are AMAZING. They all make their own from scratch. I'm used to eating factory produced bland store bought crap. I used to think that was good but I had no idea how good real fish cakes made from scratch and not frozen could be. And I could drink the hot fish broth all day. It's so good.

I don't need to eat anything fancy and expensive to be happy. Simple market food will do just fine.

There are no fancy chairs or places to sit here while you eat. There's counter for you to place your food so you can eat while standing. But you can drink as much free fish broth as you want.

Want some small octopus at a restaurant? Owner will go outside to the tank and grab couple live ones and bring it straight to your table. That's table side service.
