Is this program legit? In theory, it could be bcc'ing every email to the author or <insert conspiracy theory here>.

Can anyone vouch for it?

Why can't you? Most mail services allow you to setup an automatic forward, Yahoo! included. Unless they changed that option...

Edit: Bastards! They removed that when they removed the POP support... Oh for the good ole days when I used Yahoo! though Outlook for free...

Yeah i was like, this is awesome, then i realized, that is kind of pointless. but, a message indicator would be nice, not that i want another application running, but i always forget to check my mail, maybe a trillian plugin will be created. hmmm.

also found that to be very nice. great way to backup your mail, you know googles not going anywhere, but then again, i dont know how much info you want them to suck out of you either. Granted i dont know the details of their privacy invation, but if its just for stupid little ads on the side of your inbox, then thats no big deal.

*edit*
just found this...

So... I want to transfer all my old archived email on my 8 year old Eudoramail account to gmail. I should first d/l it via POP, then send it all to gmail with one of these programs? Would that be the best way to do it?

why imap? care to explain to a noob?

imap allows you to manage your email, save it locally to other folders, and still keep whatever emails you wish on the (internet accessible) server. kinda the best of both worlds....like POP you can download to your local computer, but unlike POP you can selectively download, delete stuff right on the server, and retain the ability to access your email online from anywhere via the web email interface without your inbox/folders being completely empty (having POP's everything off it) or completely full of crap (not having POP's anything off it). With IMAP if you wanna store a file online (and who wouldnt with gmail's 1GB) you can simply attach it to an email on your local home computer, then drag and drop it into an imap folder....voila .... the file is now on your server available to you from any internet computer.

two things: 1 GB of storage and if you get in early you can get a decent user name like EricCartman instead of EricCartman01298

and it's run by Google who know how to create an efficient, fast interface and search capability.

OK that's THREE things....

Any ideas on converting .pst to .mbx?

From www.marklyon.org/gmail/
If you're using a Microsoft product like Outlook or Outlook Express that stores mail in .pst files, you'll likely have better luck importing your mail into Mozilla first, and then using Mbox & Maildir to Gmail Loader (GML) to transfer your mail from Mozilla to Gmail.
