I make my kids at least TRY something before saying they don't like it.

What, exactly, in your opinion is nasty about it?

You know, you're right. I shouldn't say IT IS nasty. I'll say it SOUNDS nasty

I have never ever heard of people using soy sauce and yeast as seasoning... I don't like soy sauce and yeast has no flavor.

1. Air pop
2. Melt butter in microwave
3. Pour on popcorn & mix
4. Add copius amounts of garlic powder (takes less time than real)
5. Add 'appropriate' amounts of cayenne pepper for a kick.
6. Slobber in anticipation.

edit: spelling

[*]A dash of pepper will really give you a much more dramatic experience. I usually use black pepper, but a dash of red cayenne pepper is also quite good.
[*]I've never tried mashed garlic like mentioned above, but I have used other forms of garlic quite a bit. It makes popcorn so much better. What I do is to use garlic salt to replace most of the regular salt. Garlic powder works as well.
[*]I always mix different types of butter: real butter, powdered butter, squeeze butter, etc. The more types you add the more complex and better the taste. Usually I have 5-8 types of butter and 1-3 types of oil in each popcorn batch. I always keep it at least 50% real butter, the rest are just for hints of other buttery flavors.
[*]Try adding dried minced onion to the butter as it melts. That'll soften up the onion and it adds a lot to the popcorn taste.
[*]Seasoning salts in limited quantities can really perk up an otherwise bland bowl of popcorn. Again, use these sparingly.

You get extra points for the bullets.

Our local Safeway has it on sale buy 1 - get 1 free, we have some $0.75 off coupons AND Safeway double coupons!!!

Plus if we pay using our CitiBank Dividends Platinum Select credit card we earn 5% rebate!

Did you look that up or was it off the top of your head?

check out all your local supermarkets. see which one has double coupons. those will become your new favorite stores. some of you might be lucky and get triple coupons.

every week you should receive a new circular from grocery stores in the area. read it thoroughly, marking down sales items. this week for example, in southern california vons, campbell's chunky soup is 10/10 with von's card. (just get one, who cares if they track your buying, that just means more coupons for you later on.) i also have a coupon for 50 cents off of 2 cans. i'm hunting for more so i can stock up and will be raiding vons daily to stock up on soup.

(note: if you do not receive a circular, go to the store's website. they usually have ad posted there. i don't like looking when i'm in the store, as i can't plan my shopping accordingly.)
no greater glee in the world than seeing the amount you saved is equal to or more than you actually paid for your groceries. coupons are NOT a pain if you plan well. if i know i will be certain items, i take those coupons out in advance and as i'm strolling around the store if i see another deal i will pull the coupon out so i have them ready for the checker when i'm ready to pay.

a better bonus is the citi dividends card as RossMAN promotes. nothing like getting money back on spending on necessities such as groceries! better dividends than discover card for sure, as it's 5% for groceries (unless discover upped their's again, they do run promos from time to time.)

anyways, there's a bunch of us over at gottadeal.com forums - we have a grocery coupon forum there - and we exchange coupons, alert others of deals (i.e. blinkie coupons in stores) and of general good deals.

why pay more than you have to?

Cop porn is great. I've got one of those old style poppers and I can get some really nice fluffy cop porn. I love adding some butter and adding a bunch of salt and kicking back and relaxing while watching a movie.

I'm not such a fan of the microwave Cop porn though. There's never enough butter or salt so you have to add your own.
