Portable LCD

Right now I have a Planar 17" LCD: Review & Info

I like it a lot, it's a great monitor, but the base is so huge I really want something portable to go with my Shuttle SFF. Is there any place I can buy a stand and change out the stand, or an easy mod to make it sit smaller. The big stand is removeable.

Or is there a good, smaller profile 17" LCD that anyone can recommend?

I've been running Samsung LCDs for a while and they have one of the sharpest pictures for the money.

Sorry to double post... Most (if not all) Samsung LCDs offer standard mounting, so they can have the stands interchanged with little to no issue.

i got the 710t for christmas, it's badass.

the edges are thin so it would be good for dual monitors

its kinda pricey tho

it ghosts in games, but my eyes ajusted within minutes, now i dont even see it anymore.

It's pretty damn low profile, and its also really cool because it comes with the pivot software.

The viewing angle is weird though. It kindof looks like the top half of my screen has a green tint to it because my desk is low, so my chair has to be low enough to fit underneath, so i need to sit at a weird angle when im at my pc, and it doesn't tilt to face downward, but again, i got used to it within minutes.

I'm sure a homebuilt solution wouldn't be difficult to come up with (and would be cheaper), but theirs has a shoulder strap and pretty good padding around the display (in case it gets bumped/dropped in transit).

buy a handle, drill two holes in mount post of lcd, place handle over holes, insert screws, screw them in. Either that or make some kind of strap that goes round the lcd bezzle and attach a handle to the strap...be enginuitive (or a word that sounds like that...lol)

I just ordered the GearGrip LCD for mine. I was thinking about building solution for my LG, but with the time and expense involved in building one which would be handy and protect my investment, I couldn't come up with anything better.

I already have the GearGrip CRT and it's a high quality product. It made carrying my 19 inch Sony CRT so much easier (not that anything short of a forklift could make carrying that behemoth "easy") and with the quality of the GearGrip, I was never in fear of it failing. They do make quality products.
