There was a secret room that gave away the turret song. So bizarre. I also wonder whats the deal with the fat one. Does it shoot missiles or shotgun slugs, or is it just glandular. Its funny, but since with my second playthrough of Portal 1, I really try to avoid killing turrets. These things are alive. I just pick them up and point them in another direction. The three turret on the island level was really the only one where it couldn't be avoided.

Holy moly! And those translations are accurate? If so, that really shores up the "who is Chell" side of things.

I took my time, playing a room here and there and finished it in 14 hours.


I felt like it was worth the money, although the voice acting seemed to be a bit over the top at times.

The end of Chapter 8 - "the itch" [3 turrets] was the only area where I had to get a little hint as to how to get past the 3 turrets... For some reason I kept thinking the level was a co-op level put into the single player part of the game.

It took me under 8 hours to finish (sight seeing and secret hunting), and this level took me an hour. I was sent down the wrong path when I jumped over to the turrets from the side wall. I could knock over 2 out of the 3 turrets, which just made it worst because I kept trying for the third. I was convinced it was some kind of bug that the turrets were so fast on the draw, I went to Youtube to verify it. Its an odd feeling when you feel enraged and extremely stupid at the same time.

I can't remember that particular one, but there were a few that really got me for a while. I'm currently stuck with a buddy on one of the 3rd stage puzzles. Trying my hardest not to find a guide because I feel like we tried everything we could and got nowhere.

How the... we only got stuck for any large chunk of time twice. And by large I mean ~15 minutes. Maybe 30 on the bad one. It still took us ~5 hours.

... Did you stop to smell the roses? That seems like you just rushed through it as quick as possible. At most we were stuck for maybe 10 minutes on a a few stages and it still took us 5 hours to finish.

Not at all, we took our time...or so I thought.

We got through, to the end of chapter 5 ... and then the credits in about 1.5 hours

.. none were all that hard, we were never stumped. We took almost less then a minute to figure out every level, then executed, haha.

The first one was definitely harder overall. It had more fast reaction and twitch puzzles which made it seem a bit more challenging. This one never really had that. The one puzzle I THOUGHT was like that wasn't, and I hit an invisible wall trying to solve it the "wrong" way...

I loved the game and will probably replay it again w/ commentary, but overall it should have been harder. With all the gels and stuff they added they could have made some pretty tough puzzles.

Like some people have said before in this thread, Portal 2 has specific spots of where you can put a portal practically directing you what to do. Portal 1 just had a room where you had to figure out where to put a portal, not a specific spot. Another reason I think it's easier is because we already know the Portal mechanics and what to do so it'd be easier to do it again. I'm sure to someone that has never played Portal 1 and started with Portal 2 it'd be difficult since they've never played a game with those mechanics.

I loved the game and will probably replay it again w/ commentary, but overall it should have been harder. With all the gels and stuff they added they could have made some pretty tough puzzles.

Agreed, it was way too easy compared to the first one. I'm glad I didn't have any of these repetitive faceplants half an inch away from the portal moments in this one, but hte puzzles themselves also weren't as hard. On the other hand, there were a lot of times where you just had to place portals on one end of a level and come out the other, which were pretty annoying because I would be looking for a puzzle and it would just end up being something silly like that.

I guess the DLC will have harder maps...
