I just completed Portal 2 single-player. I've never been more satisfied with a game...EVER.

I was grinning uncontrollably. I laughed out loud and exclaimed "WOW!" more times than I can count (especially @ the end).

Best. Ending. Ever.

Ugh, I have to admit... the loading is rather annoying.

Probably designed that way because the PS3 version has only 256MB RAM, and they developed all platforms simultaneously.

Yeah, I figured it was something of the sort. It just kind of breaks up the feeling and sort of brings back the "elevators" from Mass Effect :\.

So I was thinking what I would do if I had a portal gun. I would probably do something like open a portal in 2 big airports, like NY and London for example, and just charge people something like $50-100 to go through it, then just lock up the portal gun.

Pretty lame but I'd make some serious cash.

one portal in the ceiling, one on the floor = free energy

Other than a turbine, how else could you do it? Unless you could make huge portals, you wouldn't get much energy out of a turbine.

you could just increase the distance between the portals to get more energy. anyway just a silly thought.

Place one portal in ceiling, one on floor beneath. Surround the area between them with copper coil. Place magnet in coil so it drops continuously through the portals. The moving magnetic field induces a current in the coil. Free energy.

Oh man... I'm freaking livid right now. I'm on chapter 8, room 15 I believe and I spent a bunch of time trying to get to a block... only to find out Valve put invisible walls up on the platform it's on to stop the block from falling off. Apparently that's not the way they wanted me to solve it, so even though I found a way up on the platform I can't toss the block down to the lower level.

I can't believe they'd do shit like this in a puzzle game. I'm sitting here shocked because what I did should be perfectly valid.

So just FYI guys, don't think too hard because god forbid you get creative.

I'm having a hard time visualizing this. Could you post a screenshot?

Well I finished the game so it doesn't really matter anymore. And while I'd love to post screenshots, it seems they made yet another odd design choice and I don't see any way of loading up puzzles on a per room basis. I can only load by chapter. Seems stupid since they made load points at the end of every room so it'd be very easy to let us pick which puzzle we wanted to replay. Am I missing something or is there really no way of replaying specific puzzles?

You can load maps directly in the console. Hardly an elegant solution though (and you'll need to know the name of the map, though I imagine they follow a fairly simple naming scheme).

And speaking of random frustrating things. You can't save at all in the developer commentary mode. So if you accidently fall to your death, you have to start the map over. Not a huge deal, but still, kinda annoying if you just want to listen to the commentary.

I kinda agree. There is usually only really one solution to each level. In the co op game though there was one part where my partner and I each found a different solution at the same time and they both worked, but I think that is pretty rare.

So, is it worth 50 bucks?

I wasn't sure at first, but after finishing the single player campaign and playing some co-op I'd say it definitely is. It's not the longest game for sure, but the time spent playing is pretty much all fun and engaging. A strong candidate for GOTY IMO.

I finshed it today. I want to say it took around 6-7 hrs, a bit shorter than I imagined it to be. Although I will test out the co-op and see how that goes. Overall I rather enjoyed it! Really well done I thought, although I'd still like to know more about it. Some of the puzzles definitely put me at a stop for awhile, and then when I solved them it seemed so obvious.

Hard to say. It's just a tad longer than the first when considering single player alone. Though the co-op is supposed to take nearly as long. It's a great game but it lacks replay value and total content. I'd say I'll get my money's worth but I'm still left thinking the single player really could have been longer... Or at least better organized to go back and replay certain areas.

I thought the dialogue in the game was hilarious in the beginning but kinda got dull by the end. I like Simmons, but I don't think I laughed once at any of his parts.

I felt he was the most consistently funny part, especially when you first get to that area. Everybody had funny things to say but I always liked his stuff the best:

"Bean counters say I can't fire a man because he's in a wheel chair. Did it anyway... ramps are expensive"

"We haven't entirely nailed down what element it is yet, but I'll tell you this: it's a lively one, and it does NOT like the human skeleton"

"The lab boys have informed me that I shouldn't have mentioned the control group. They're telling me I should stop making these pre-recorded messages. New idea: "make more pre-recorded messages". I pay the bills around here and I can talk about the control group all damn day!"

"If I punch those numbers into my calculator it makes a happy face"

"I'll be honest... we're throwing science at the wall here to see what sticks. No idea what it'll do. Probably nothing. Best case scenario you might get superpowers. Worst case, some tumors which we'll cut out."
