How do you know when it's expired? It goes soft like you ?

You probably have never seen anything rock hard so it is understandable. When a bag of cement expires, it turns into one solid bag of hardened cement. You need a sledge hammer to break it up.

As to your ED, they make pills for that.

Is that Portland Oregon presumably? Where did you pick it up?

EDIT - Heinz doesn't even list on their website how much sugar is in their ketchup.

4 grams of sugar per tablespoon

I generally consider Tabasco to be a light, very basic/common hot sauce. Not really that hot. I like El yucateco, they have some great flavors. I also like this local brand called Palo Alto firefighters. Cholula and Tapatio I consider to be in the middle, a bit hotter than Tabasco, but not as hot or flavorful as El Yucateca.

Ketchup on a burger or dipping fries in...fine, but nothing else. Maybe a bit of Heinz 57 for a mediocre stead...but I prefer the natural juices.
As for hot sauce...Cholula is OK, I prefer the flavor of Tapatio...but neither is actually hot, just mildly spicy. There's an off testaurant we go to in Westport...a bash of Hawaiian and southern BBQ...called Aloha Alabama. They have a couple of hot sauces bottled just for them by some company in Seattle. A couple are eye-opening, most are meh. I like HOT, just not stupid hot that drstroys your taste buds and everything down stream.

- What a bullshit article. How about "Here are 6 sauces that you already knew had a shitload of sugar and then 8 sauces that you already knew didn't have any sugar at all".

Anyway, getting back to what OP was saying about hot sauces, IMO Huy Fong Sriracha/Cholula/Some Korean Brand I don't have a keyboard installed for Gochuching are my favorite hot sauces.

Among the 'Murican ones that have a flavor beyond "trying to cauterize your asshole" I'd say Franks and Green/Chipotle Tobasco are about the best.

As much as I like Huy Fong Sriracha, the shit they pulled with the local farmers has kind of turned me off the brand.

-Still not clear on what shit was pulled, sounds like a pretty basic legal disagreement about payment between supplier and vendor.

Huy Fong says it overpaid from its primary supplier, supplier says it priced it's product to ensure next year's yield, and bam lawsuits.

Looks like Huy Fong got a bit of FAFO and saddled with a big legal bill, and it looks like the farm did have to pay back Huy Fong what it overcharged, and it looks like other cheaper suppliers couldnt consistently supply which is why they were cheaper in the first place.

I googled for sugar content of Heinz ketchup
A tablespoon of sugar is 12 grams. So Heinz Ketchup is 1/3 sugar by weight.

And the article is about showing you visually how much sugar is in the product.

Edit to fix math, no idea why I thought 16g per tablespoon

Figured it out. A tableapoon of Heinz is 17g. So 4/17 ~=23.5%

If I eat out with the boss I give him a hard time about using sugar paste on his fries and stuff. If there's a bottle on the table, I tell him they put those out when there's a kid eating :^D

I switched to sugar free ketchup and peanut butter. We literally just grind our own peanuts into butter. I make my own almond milk also by grinding almonds and adding water and a bit of vanilla. If you want to discuss olive oils with me don't as you are probably wrong about what you think is best but here in America you can find decent olive oil you're just going to have to pay for it.

SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT HOT SAUCE EVERYBODY, WE ALREADY HAVE A HOT SAUCE THREAD

Yep, that Portland. I got a 3 pack at Costco, but I'm in the PNW.

Doesn't sound odd to me, but I went to high school in Germany.
Is this the hot sauce thread? I found your "find something spicy to eat" thread?

Or is there a different thread about hot sauce that you are talking about?

In any case, I don't use ketchup on anything other than fast food burgers that come with ketchup by default.

That's a good place to talk about hot sauce. I think it came up in the thread about Texas Pete's not being from Texas too. That's not my thread though, it's Quebert's.

75% less sugar than regular. I use this or some organic brands that are less sugar.

Interesting to have a hot sauce thread, though I'm not a hot sauce fan at all, as that ends up being the only thing I can taste when I use it.
