Never had the ketchup, usually just go with Heinz. But I don't use it on much except for burgers and fries, and occasionally when I fry up some spam.

For general hot sauce, it used to be Tapatio for me, but I recently discovered Pico Pica and have been using that ever since.

Ohman… nf is gonna have an aneurysm for this… fried spam is fucking awesome! Once a year is cool, and it's got to be sliced thin and cooked crispy. Just mustard on white bread.

I'll allow it, because pan-fried spam is a tasty treat. I prefer it on a toasted bagel, with cream cheese.

Spam's fucking awesome, and more than once a year too. It's about 85% as good as bacon, without the huge mess, and shrinkage. It also has more substance. And since we're on the topic... I get some kind of vegan Cuban style rice and beans in a can. Dice up some spam, fry it crispy, and add to the rice and beans with huge helping of El Yucateco brown. Amazing.

I make my bacon in the toaster oven, I line the baking sheet with foil, and do a layer of foil on top while it cooks as well, so there's essentially no mess to speak of. I think your ranking is too high though, or you need to get better bacon, Spam is maybe 60% as good as bacon.

What variety of El Yucateco is "brown"? That's not an officially sanctioned flavor to my knowledge. Chipotle? Coffee & Habanero?
It's also NOT FUCKING KETCHUP, you bastard. You know what you're doing

Try some Portland Ketchup, they're not a megacorp!
I would love to. I'll take a look next time at Costco. I haven't bought Heinz in a while, as I get ketchup at Whole Foods when I don't have the sugar free one from a different shop.

But I don't want to support Bezos as much either anymore after his latest shenanigans at the Washington Post, but that really fucks me. We need some Sprout grocery markets up here.

There's no sugar in Heinz, read the ingredients losers.
So yesterday, I thought that I hit rock bottom having to explain to someone on Facebook about when to open windows to cool down the temperature in the room. I answered to open the windows when the temperature outside is colder than the room temperature (and will be colder while the window is open).

Now, I have to explain that high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup are both types of sugars. So, long story short, there are multiple types of sugar. Sugar is a broad term for sweet tasting, soluble carbohydrates of the Cn(H2O)n general chemical formula. Here is a good list of names for different sugars, which includes High Fructose Corn Syrup (#2 on the link) and Corn Syrup (#40 on the link).

Now if you are trying to be cute about the FDA's definition of sugar (which is a crystal) vs. a syrup (which is a liquid), then you still fall flat. Since the discussion is about the sweet taste that applies to both crystal or liquid forms of sugar/syrup.

I, uh, think maybe it was facetious post.

I'm a huge hot sauce fan. I like the ones that have some heat like making your brow sweat but not the ones that melt your face off.

Is this one comparable to that or is it kind of on the mild side like Louisiana, Cholula, Franks, ect.
I'm not a good candidate for advising people on what's hot. I like things waaay hotter than most people, even people that say they like hot stuff. That one is about as hot as I like for stuff like cheese & crackers. A big dollop on top, and chow down, but even so, I usually prefer the green for that. I go much hotter for cooked food where the sauce is distributed throughout the dish.

To try to answer your question though, it blows waaaay past the sauces you listed. If you wanted to try something similar, but a bit milder, I'd go for the green sauce. It's still way hotter than the sauces you listed, but milder than the brown. If you think you'd like it even hotter, then go for the brown.

edit:
They have a red sauce that's milder yet, but it has a flavor that's almost like steak sauce. It's good, but it's not what I buy El Yucateco for. I like the green and brown cause they're very "dry". They don't have a heavy vinegar character, and contrary to most habanero sauce, it isn't very fruity. There's also a black sauce that's very smoky, and good for using on beef, but I don't cook beef at the house. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do with it. It's very unique and interesting though. I definitely recommend getting the black if you see it. I've never had anything remotely like it.

Got a bottle of Portland ketchup arriving tomorrow to try.

I stopped at Morimoto's restaurant Momosan for a quick bowl of ramen on my way home tonight. Absolutely one of the best bowls of ramen in the city. Anyway, I saw this hot sauce at the bar and tried it. Had some sweetness and sourness and it was tasty. I'll have to get some

Mayan Recipe. This looks interesting. Never heard of or seen this out here in CA. Will have to keep an eye out. Although my tolerance for heat has diminished. Still wiling to try. 4oz bottle sounds tiny. Like a shot or something lol
4-5oz is fairly typical for hot sauce. El Yucateco is generally available in a lot of grocery stores (usually for $2-3 in my experience), they may not all have the XXXtra Hot variant pictured, but some will. Most common are the excellent regular habanero kind, the green variety, and the black variety.

If I ever heard of Portland ketchup before this, I don't recall it. Seems I'd need to order from Amazon and it is expensive, so I'll nope out. Looks to be almost identical to Amazon's whole foods brand?

I see Walmart will be carrying Heinz black garlic ranch and Target Heinz Harissa aioli. I don't like sugar, so if either have anywhere near what ketchup has, no sale here.

Easy to make and no added sugar. I will pick some Harissa paste up and give it a go - https://flavorfulife.com/harissa-aioli/

Bro I love me some fucking heat. Just like you I like things way hotter than most. I'll have to give the one you first posted a try.

My current go to is by a local place called Grayson's Craft. Their Ghost & Roasted Garlic is amazing but is to much for most people.

Has anybody else here tried this? Any fans? Recently heard a recommendation and I saw it on a store shelf, so I grabbed it out of curiosity. I feel like pestering local restaurants to start having this on hand instead of (or in addition to) Heinz. It's much less sweet than Heinz, and has more tomato flavor, without overdoing it.
That actually sounds good!

Got it yesterday. It's delicious. I could take it less sweet, but this has a nice rich tart tomato flavor.

Is this the hot sauce thread? I found your "find something spicy to eat" thread?

Or is there a different thread about hot sauce that you are talking about?

In any case, I don't use ketchup on anything other than fast food burgers that come with ketchup by default.
Maybe try these two topics.

I want to make a brand called Blood Ketchup, with the tagline "You don't know, and we'll never say" and the website will just be an FAQ with Q: Is there blood in Blood Ketchup? A: We'll never say. And then in fine print it'll say doesn't intentionally contain blood, but might contain a legally allowable amount of blood and then cite some FDA regulation. On the actual product it'll have a "was packaged in a facility in which there were also organisms that contain blood".

And it'll come paired with a wooden stake promo/freebie with a sticker "just in case"

And then we'll make a Bloody Mary alcohol that has a tick and a leech in it.
