Possible deal on Microsoft Office software

I have seen a Microsoft office XP Student and Teacher edition now available for $149. It included Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. The Manager at Office Depot said you only need to be a Teacher or student to purchase it. I asked if my 8 year old daughter qualified me, and he said sure. If this is the case, you can save nearly $200 on a purchase of Office XP standard! Don't forget your coupons. I also saw it at Target for the same price. I searched to see if anyone else had posted this so I hope I'm not duplicating.

its 129 @ Staples... which you could combine with a coupon.... its not a bad deal if your a student/teacher..

You must have missed the announcement last year when Microsoft announced this version. Any student or teacher K-12, College, Technical School, etc qualifies. I think I saw it at Costco for $129 this evening, but it would be a good deal with some quality coupons from Office Depot, Office Max or Staples.

only downside (according to microsoft) is that its non upgradable, but you can just wait for the next teacher/student version to come out which is still cheaper that buying the regular upgrade. Doesnt sound like much of a downside.

E-Academy does have MS products for students. However you needed an username and password provided by your Computer Science Department.

I can get ANY MS operating systems for $5 each through school. I also got Office XP for $15 and Norton Antivirus for $5. I've actually heard of people signing up for one class just to buy the software and then drop the class after they have got what they wanted!

is that e-academy site for real? I'd imagine it is, because it would take my university email, but not one of my buddies, which implies it looks for more then just the @ .edu ... if that site is for real, then that is a truly great site
