The CompUSA in Raleigh (on 70) is picked bare of just about anything worth buying. They still had some way overpriced laptops a few days ago. They are marking prices up as they up the discount percentages.

Please just go out of business already.

Prices aren't being marked up - everything just went to standard list price. Also, not all of the west coast stores are closing. Compusa's website lists the stores still staying open.

I am going to hit the Marietta, Georgia store today.

Grabbed an Antec NeoHE 550 to replace my GF's for $60 -- 60% off the retail price of $150. NewEgg has it for $110 + shipping, so I'd say it's an excellent deal. Installed and it's up and running with no problems. This was at the Duluth, GA store -- and they had 2 left. They also had some CompUSA brand 500W, 400W, etc. (which I would not touch with a 10-foot pole) for even cheaper. Most everything else was picked clean though, unless you're in the market for flash memory.

Dude, i totally scored on a WD 74GB 10k Raptor HD today. Apparently they found this hard drive stuffed under the shelving of a store already closed down so they brought it over to my store. I pulled it aside to my desk thinking i'll buy it when it goes 60-80% off. One of the store managers walks by and asks if that's in inventory. I say no and he says... "well, it looks like a store fixture to me... how bout I sell it to you for $5?" Sweet!

Today's the last day for all the remaining closing stores. Pretty much everything is 80-90% off. Not much useful stuff you'll find though.

I think Compusa started the toilet spiral about 10 years ago, doing really wacky stuff to make the bottom line in stores look much better than it was, like putting expensive older items that didn't sell into warehouses instead of selling them at the market price and taking the loss.

Yeah, I went into one a week before it closed and saw that they had the XBox Live Vision Camera....listed at $59.99. MSRP on it is $39.99.

I have neither Microcenter or Frys in my area. All I have to rely on is Compusa and Best Buy's limited selection.
