Drove by the one in San Jose, saw someone holding a sign for 20%. Couldn't read the details, but I'm guessing it was up to 20% off, not 20% off everything.

Speaking of mythical, What adds to that for first-timers is that some (most?) of them have 'themes,' at least the ones I've been to in California. For example the San Jose store has an Aztec-type thing going, one in LA has a spacecraft crashed into the roof, etc. I always wondered if most of the others, especially out of state, do the same thing.
The Fremont CA store (#21 I think), is modeled after 1893 worlds fair. They have a full sized Tesla Coil in a Faraday cage that goes off several times a day in the store as an exhibition. Pretty impressive but this thing is so noisy that I need to stand far away. Seen it so many times I hardly even pay attention to it when it goes off.edit: reading more about the themes, I'd really like to check out some of the stores in California. The "themes" here in Texas (and the Las Vegas store, IIRC) basically consist of large murals near the entrance. There aren't any elaborate props or anything like that. Still very nice interiors, though.

Looking at the CompUSA website I guess they don't carry the ATI TV Wonder 650. About the only thing I thought about picking up cheap(er).

Any updates? Have the discounts increased?
You overestimate CompUSA employees. They're only slightly more knowledgable than those at Fry's.Originally posted by: quique
I'm not really sure about the revision but I'm sure you can call and ask.
Fry's must be pretty poor then.Originally posted by: mra
