Possible Great Trade-in Deal @ Electronics Boutique! Madden 2004, Soul Calibur 2, F-Zero GX - Up to $35 off each

I searched for "ebgames" and "electronics boutique" so I hope this isn't a repost.

I was at my local Electronics Boutique today and noticed a deal they have going on. You seem to need a coupon to get in on the deal, but there were a stack of them up by the register.

Anyhow, the deal is that you can trade in ANY used title for PS2, XBox or Gamecube to get up to $35 in trade-in credit towards Madden 2004 (PS2, Xbox or Gamecube), Soul Calibur 2 (PS2, Xbox or Gamecube) or F-Zero GX (Gamecube only).

You get $35 if you trade in by September 15th, $30 by September 30th, $25 by October 15th. Limit one tradein towards each title per customer. You can even trade in the free Zelda Master Quest disks that came free with preorders of Zelda: Wind Waker.

Trade-in games must have original box and instruction manual.

Edit: After reading the coupon again, it looks like this might be a way for Electronics Boutique to BUY BACK these three games from you after you've played them. However when I asked the sales associate "So, can I use this coupon to get $35 off F-Zero if I bring in that old Zelda Master Quest disk?" and he said yes. Then again sales associates can often be retarded

Yea that sounds cool, But they had a good deal going a while back. Trade in any 3 GC games and get F-Zero for free. I took in Madden 2002, NCAA 2002, and NBA courtside, all three I got as a package when i bought my GC. They were only going to give me $12 for all three of them! I said "Screw that!" and now I am waiting until the 26th when I get my game! I dont know if the deal is still going or not.

BTW, Soul Calibur 2 is the best fighting game of all time, I have it for Xbox (JAP Version)

That is just insane... anyone got more details... are you sure its not, they buy BACK the games from you at that price?

I'll repeat. I was lead to believe that it was "any game gets you $35 towards one of these three games", but the coupon (after reading it a few times) reads "any of these games gets you $35 towards some other games". I apologize if it was a case of a stupid CSR misleading me. And that might be the case. But by all means, check it out. Ask your local store.

Note: EB usually/always has a restriction list with these promos. Otherwise, you could bring in a copy of a gen-1 PS2 game and get $35 for it, more than it's worth at retail NEW. You are most likely mistaken. They have run promos like this in the past, like when Madden 2003 was released last year, for MoH and GTA Vice, I believe. It is the GAMES in question (Soul Calibur, Madden 2004, etc.) which must be traded in by that date, not any game.

Either way, most EB games do the trade in three games, get it free thing for big titles. If you remember, Target has had games like 4.x4 Evo and Turok (both for GC) for $5. Buy 3 copies of either of those, and take them right over to EB and get your game for about 15 dollars.

My brothers did this for playstation and gamecube (each has one)... if you bring in old games you get the current buyback value (as low as a dollar) plus $5 toward Madden (or the other games mentioned I guess.) They each returned five games each to reach $35.

Ebgames rips you off when they buy back your games. i.e. they usually give you $20-$25 for a game you just paid $50 for.

Even when they give you the $35 credit, in this case, with limitations no less, you would still get almost $50 if you sold the game on ebay.

It's definitely up to $35 if you trade in one of Madden 2004, Soul Calibur 2 or F-Zero GX, after which they'll resell it for $47.99, about $2 off the price for a new copy. There is a semi-deal though -- I forget what the details were exactly but you can trade in games that would normally get you $1 in buyback credit for $5 in credit towards one of these three new games.
