I ordered a few hours ago today, but was canceled. No one is going to get this except for the few people who initially saw this price mistake and ordered with overnight shipping
Ah well, there will be others

well, since we officially have a dead deal here, can anyone actually recommend ram for me?

does the deal over at this thread seem worthwhile?

and does DDR400 mean 400mhz and in dual channel mean 800mhz?

ddr 400 means double data rate, runs at 200fsb but effectively is 400mhz, memory bandwith is 3.2gb, however running dual channel mode allows that to be doubled for up to 6.4gb bandwith, both intel 800fsb and amd 400fsb cpus actually run at 200mhz fsb so it should be compatible barring any other general issues

Depends how you look at it, there is actual speed then an effective speed. I'll assume since you are talking about 800fsb you mean Intel, they work like this, the cpu actually runs at 200mhz fsb, it has what they refer to as "quad-pumped" technology making it effectively 4X200 = 800fsb.

ok, I just did some googling as well to find out, and let me know if I'm right:

Under no load there is no real difference, but under a full load the "quad-pumped" does actually increase performance since there is a wider spread for the 200mhz to use?

So if this is correct, buying ddr400 does help increase performance while under heavy loads?

I appologize for the thread crapping as well.

If you have a cpu that runs at 200fsb (no matter what effective speed/rating is) you definately want ddr400 to go with it for maximum efficiency whether under small or heavy load. Matching the ram and cpu fsb offers better performance because there is no bottleneck, ie the cpu and ram operate without needing to wait for each other (ie "sync"). Timings are as important in some cases, so the lower CAS rating you can get the better.

You'd think, since this is an "error", that they'd be all over it and update their site, so their CSRs aren't taking calls about this all day, but it looks like their probably enjoying the free publicity. :-/

Its a shame too! I was going to order four sticks. Those would have been nice in my G5! Thanks for the heads up anyway! Its always worth a shot on these things! Make sure to post in if anyone gets this, I'm kinda interested to see if some might slip through.
