I have a request, and depending on the time involved and price I'll pay.

What I'm doing, is making banners for one of my websites that have album art, artist name, album name, a quote, and signature on them like so: example

What I'd like is for somebody to be able to submit an album art photo and have it scale automatically, and submit the required text fields and then spit out a finished photo like the one shown.

This can be web-based or just something that runs on my PC, I'd just like to automate the process a bit. How much work would this be? If it's enough work to charge give me a price. If it's pretty easy and you can point me in the right direction to go about it I may be able to on my own.

Right, which is why I don't know if it's very doable. Plus the fonts I used aren't standard.

If the layout of that image doesn't change and you can supply the TTF font files, its pretty easy. I'd say about 2 hrs max. for someone who knows what he's doing.

You should definitely look into ImageMagick. It's free and will do everything that you need. Scale down image, handle fonts, append text. It shouldn't be that hard to do. http://www.imagemagick.org/script/examples.php

i've done something similar before, but the wrapping of text might be a pain.

^ right, the Win32 text output functions are easy to use and CxImage at codeproject .com could help with reading, scaling and writing the bitmaps but there needs to be some logic designed for what to do about longer artist names, album names and quotes.

The design might need do to something like

font size = 20 point // or font_1 = 20, font_2 = 19, ...
do
- create fonts at current font size
- write artist, album, quote text out and see the size returned by GDI
- done = (size is within limit)
- if (!done) reduce font size(s)
while (!done)

a modern graphics library will fit the text to its bounding box. I could probably set that up in about 20 minutes. depends on the details.
